Democrats have always been the party of exceptions. When they cannot change the law to say exactly what they want it to say, they use the legislative process and the courts to chip away at it.
Look at abortion, as an example. Over the years, many states have restricted and banned late term abortions. Democrats, however, have demanded exceptions for situations when the "mother's life is in jeopardy." Even though that represents less than 1% of all abortions performed in the US, the Left acts like this is common place. Since then, though, they have expanded that concept to include when the "mother's health" is in jeopardy. Of course that is ridiculous because every pregnancy carries inherent risks to the mother's health. There is no such thing as a 100% safe pregnancy.... In many states, this exception has been expanded to include "mental health" too, meaning that if a pregnant woman feels stressed about giving birth, abortionists can skirt restrictions on late term abortions by deeming it medically necessary...
The Left does this on every issue. They demand exceptions to the law and then expand the exceptions so much, that the law itself becomes unenforceable.
That is what Democrats are now doing with immigration. As the Trump administration ramps up illegal alien detentions and deportations, Congressional Democrats are making a push to force the President to release any illegal alien who claims to be... transgender.
In order to qualify for asylum in the United States, migrants need to prove that they have been individually targeted because of their religion or political beliefs. We have covered in depth how Democrats and their GOP allies have tried to expand this definition. For example, last year, we caught Rep. Kevin Yoder (R-KS) trying to push through an amendment to give asylum to any illegal alien who claimed to be a victim of domestic violence. They wouldn't have had to prove anything. All they would have had to do is tell a border patrol agent that a family member hurt them at least once, and they would be guaranteed entry into the United States. With your help, we rose up and blocked that bill from becoming law.
Now, however, Democrats are back with another exception. This time they want to create an asylum exception for any illegal alien who claims to be transgender.
Just like the proposed bill to open up our doors to alleged domestic violence victims, this proposed change would destroy our immigration laws. Any illegal alien would be able to guarantee entry into the United States simply by claiming they are confused about their "gender identity."
Democrats claim that these illegal aliens "face persecution" and "violence" because of their identity and therefore cannot be deported. But Democrats aren't stopping there. Democrats are demanding that they also be released from ICE custody as well because they face a "heightened and unique set of injustices while in immigration detention."
I'll tell you, I got a headache just reading the Democrats' list of demands. But the big takeaway is that Democrats want to create a brand new get-out-of-jail card for illegal aliens to use. Before, the get-out-of-jail card was for illegal aliens to claim that they were part of a "family unit." Human smugglers were literally caught kidnapping and even buying Mexican children so that they could use them to pose as their clients' children... Trump cracked down on this by forcing migrant family members to submit to DNA tests to prove they are related to their children and ending the practice of simply releasing anyone who shows up to the border with a child.
But this latest push by the Democrats would be even harder to stop. All an illegal alien would have to do is show up to a border checkpoint, claim they are "confused" about their gender identity, and Border Patrol would have no choice but to release them into the country!
Here at Conservative Daily, we don't typically get involved with issues surrounding "gender identity." With that said, we are steadfast defenders of the 1st Amendment and will always fight for Americans' rights to religious beliefs and conscience.
Except, this issue today isn't really about "gender identity." It is nothing but a pretext to open up the borders to allow hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens to rush in. Over the last three years, we have seen an unprecedented amount of asylum fraud at the border. Illegal aliens will literally say anything to try to force their way into the country. Many were caught holding written scripts teaching them exactly what they had to say for force Border Patrol to release them.
Right now, there are approximately 41,000 illegal aliens in ICE detention. It is estimated that just 90 of them have identified themselves as transgendered. This Democrat plan would deal with less than two-tenths of one percent of all illegal aliens captured crossing the border. And if it passes, that number will skyrocket as more illegal aliens try to take advantage of the loophole...
Democrats know if they can get this exception added to the law, then Border Patrol will be powerless to stop the next surge at the border and the Left will be free to add even more exceptions one by one...
When the GOP tried to change the asylum laws to open the borders to alleged victims of domestic violence, we opposed it. Not because we are against domestic violence victims, but rather because the proposal was nothing but a backdoor attempt to bring hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens into the country.
With your help, we defeated that open border bill.
