It is no secret that the United Nations has a significant left-leaning agenda. Trump has spent the past four years not only trying to stop the UN from imposing its radical agenda on the world, but also to convince other countries to turn away from leftism.
One of the first executive orders that Trump signed after taking office reimposed the Mexico City Policy. First enacted by Ronald Reagan, the Mexico City Policy dictates that American taxdol lars can never go to international organizations that fund, facilitate, or advocate for abortion as a form of family planning.
Democrats howled and promised to undo Trump's order, but the President kept pushing forward. In 2019, the President put forward a resolution condemning the UN's position on abortion and was able to convince 25 countries to sign on to it.
This year, the resolution condemning abortion as a form of family planning was put to another vote and this time, 32 other countries signed on as co-sponsors.
President Trump is making serious progress in convincing the world to turn away from the sin of abortion.
But like clockwork, Democrats are advancing their plan to undo it all. Tucked away in the Democrats' legislation to fund the United Nations is an amendment to undo the Mexico City Policy and begin funding United Nations abortion programs again.
Whether Trump wins or loses, Democrats are now refusing to fund the government unless Trump agrees to fund abortion world wide.
Luckily, Conservatives in Congress are fighting back. Not only are they pushing to codify Trump's executive order into law, but they want to cut even more United Nations funding!
The main bill -- the American Sovereignty Restoration Act -- is written by Rep. Mike Rogers (R-AL). The bill is quite simple: It cuts ALL United Nations funding, except what is necessary to facilitate the withdrawal of US personnel and equipment from UN facilities.
Congress would be free to fund individual UN programs that are deemed to be worthwhile -- such as UNICEF -- but they would no longer be allowed to send the UN billions in no-strings-attached funding for them to spend on whatever they want...
And don't worry, the bill gets better. It would also revoke UN officials' diplomatic immunity. So, when United Nations bureaucrats commit crimes on US soil, they would no longer be able to use their UN title to avoid prosecution. In New York City, revoking diplomatic immunity would force the UN to pay over 17 million worth parking tickets alone.
At the risk of sounding like a television infomercial, pay attention because there's more. Rep. Rogers' bill would also kick UN soldiers out of American military facilities. The UN would no longer be allowed to use American bases to train their intervention forces. Likewise, the UN would also be prohibited from ever assuming command over American military personnel.
This is what America First looks like. Again, Congress would be free to fund individual programs at the UN. If they want to fund international peacekeeping programs, then the legislature can do it. If Congress wants to make sure the world's hungry children are fed, then they can send funding to UNICEF.
But the days of sending billions in unrestricted funding to the United Nations would be over.
This is it. We have a chance to finally pull the plug on the United Nations and ensure that American treasure is only spent on pro-America programs.
But the only way we can force the American Sovereignty Restoration Act into law is if you rise up and demand it!
