This week, President Trump forced Jeff Sessions to resign and appointed an acting-Attorney General to finally oversee the Mueller investigation.
It is not a coincidence that within 24 hours of the move, Robert Mueller started writing his final report. Acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker is already pressuring the Mueller probe to hurry it up.
The acting Acting Attorney General isn't shutting Mueller down. But he is threatening to pull the plug on the funding if Robert Mueller doesn't wrap it up.
Democrats are furious. They want the Mueller probe to last through the entirety of the Trump Presidency. They know there's no evidence of "collusion." Out of all the charges that Mueller has filed, not one alleges that Americans worked with Russians to influence the election.
In Soviet Russia, Josef Stalin had a saying: You show me the man and I'll show you the crime. The idea was that if Stalin wanted someone gone, he would investigate them without end. If he couldn't find anything criminal, he would invent a crime out of thin air. That is where the Mueller probe is now. Without any evidence of collusion, Mueller is fishing for anything that could help him destroy President Trump, even if it means targeting his children...
Right now, traitorous Republicans are joining the Democrats to protect Mueller from EVER being defunded or fired!
Jeff Flake is the lame duck Senator from Arizona. He was forced to retire when early polls showed him losing by double digits because of his anti-Trump agenda. "I retired him," Trump said about Flake in a press conference this week.
Now, Flake is biting back. His political career is over. But he hates President Trump so much, he is now working with Democrats to force a vote on legislation to protect Robert Mueller from ever being fired.
"When the Senate convenes," Flake announced on Twitter, "Sen. Chris Coons and I will ask for unanimous consent to bring S.2644, the Special Counsel Independence and Integrity Act, to a vote on the Senate floor. After the firing of the AG [Sessions], it is more important than ever to protect the Special Counsel."
This is the bill that would stop Trump or anyone else from firing Robert Mueller. The legislation would give the Judicial branch the power to rule on any attempted firing. Activist judges in the DC Circuit would get the power to decide how long Mueller is allowed to investigate.
And now Flake is working with the Democrats to push it through. As you remember, it was Jeff Coons who got Jeff Flake to flip at the last minute on Kavanaugh and demand an FBI investigation...
Trump immediately smacked back and put Flake in his place.
"Jeff Flake(y) doesn't want to protect the non-Senate confirmed Special Counsel, he wants to protect his future after being unelectable in Arizona for the "crime" of doing a terrible job! A weak and ineffective guy!"
But Flake and the Democrats are pushing forward anyway. They know that the best chance they have to remove Trump from office is to let the Mueller witch hunt go on without end. You must stop these GOP traitors!
Robert Mueller has been on the job for almost 18 months. In that time, we have seen Trump's aides and allies prosecuted for not paying taxes back in the mid-2000s, lying about a single phone call with a foreign government official, not paying taxes on a taxi medallion, and misleading law enforcement by "lying" about whether someone had a foreign accent (yes, that was one of the charges against George Papodopoulos).
We've seen Robert Mueller charge Russian intelligence agents with impersonating Americans on social media and buying Facebook advertisements both for and against President Trump.
But Mueller has absolutely no evidence of collusion; no evidence that members of the Trump campaign collaborated with the Russian government. That's because it didn't happen!
Acting AG Whitaker is doing the right thing. He is ordering Mueller to speed it up of face being defunded. No more expanding witch hunts... no more targeting Trump's family members with unconnected charges to try to get Trump to "confess." Mueller is being forced to show his card.
Democrats and establishment Republicans hate this. The Left wants Trump to be investigated for the rest of his life. Lame duck never-Trumpers agree. Other Republicans support the Special Counsel because it has helped them avoid actually having to pass conservative legislation.
Robert Mueller was never confirmed by Congress. He has never received a single vote on election day. But now, Congressional Republicans are trying to make him the most powerful, and unaccountable, person in the entire government!
This bill -- the Special Counsel Independence and Integrity Act -- has already passed through committee. Republicans Lindsey Graham, Chuck Grassley, Thom Tillis, and Jeff Flake joined Democrats to send it to the Senate floor for a full vote.
Now, GOP traitors are demanding that McConnell add the bill to the legislative calendar. They believe they have the votes...
This is all happening on Monday. We need to stop it now.
