This is amazing. Last year, after Nancy Pelosi blocked legislation designed to fund the border wall, President Trump took actions into his own hands. He used his authority under the National Emergencies Act to reprogram 6.1 billion in Pentagon funding and moved it over to kickstart border wall construction.
Republicans were furious. Two dozen GOPers in the House and Senate joined Democrats and tried to stop the President from moving forward with wall construction. They ultimately failed.
Now, President Trump is doubling down. The White House just informed Congress that the President is reprogramming an additional 3.8 billion in Pentagon funds. On top of that, President Trump is extending his national emergency order for another year.
Democrats are now scrambling to file another resolution to shut the project down. Because Trump extended the emergency order, that gives the Left another opportunity to try to kill the border wall project. And this time, they are picking up even more Republican supporters...
Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN) is retiring at the end of this year. But that isn't stopping him from joining Democrats in their fight to block border wall construction. Alexander said this week that when Democrats are able to force a floor vote on their anti-wall resolution, he will vote with them.
And he is not alone. Other Republicans like Mitt Romney (R-UT) and Susan Collins (R-ME) are just itching for another chance to prove they are "moderates." But it isn't just the anti-Trumpers who are teaming up with Democrats this time. They are also joined by Mike Lee (R-UT) and Rand Paul (R-KY), who oppose Trump's executive order on 'philosophical grounds.'
The GOP had ordered Trump to stop reprogramming funding for the border wall. Trump responded by grabbing another 3.8 billion. Suffice it to say, the GOP establishment is angry.
Democrats are confident that this time, they will have enough votes to shut down wall construction.
We finally have a President who is willing to do whatever it takes to make sure the border is secured. Trump is defying Democrats AND Republicans by extending and expanding his border wall order. And they are teaming up to try to stop the President once and for all.
Donald Trump needs your help. Now that his new national emergency order has been signs, Democrats know that they only have a set amount of time to file a bill to block it.
Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer are not only promising to force a vote this coming week, but also that they will have enough GOP support to pass it!
