One silver lining from the government shutdown has been the fact that funding to the United Nations has not been disbursed.
Before losing the House of Representatives, Republicans had been trying to push through a massive foreign aid package not only to increase aid to foreign countries, but also to restore the funding that Trump cut from the United Nations!
They tried to push it through, but President Trump put a stop to their surrender spending package at the last minute. With all eyes now on the fight over border funding, Republicans and Democrats are quietly agreeing to restore the UN's funding.
Every single spending bill now being considered in Congress -- whether introduced by Republicans or Democrats -- includes provisions to restore funding to the UN. Just to reiterate: even the bill that McConnell introduced to fund the border wall includes new funding for the United Nations!
Nancy Pelosi is trying to finish what Paul Ryan started. But she isn't just trying to restore what Trump cut... the spending bill that Pelosi and McConnell are negotiating over will actually increase taxpayer funding to the UN.
And they're hoping that you won't notice!
President Trump has done an excellent job of cutting funding to the worst United Nations programs. One of his first executive orders as President was to reinstate the Mexico City Policy, cutting funding to the United Nations' Population Fund, the biggest abortion advocate on earth. The Pelosi/McConnell plan restores the funding to this heinous UN program.
But it isn't just that. Pelosi's bill would restore hundreds of millions a year to the United Nations' Palestinian Refugee Agency, the UN Climate Treaty, the anti-American Human Rights Council, the gun control treaty the Obama had signed, and a whole host of other radical programs that Trump has defunded.
Pelosi has already rammed this through the House. Now, she is promising Leftists that no matter what happens with the government shutdown, these funding restoration amendments will reach Trump's desk in the final bill to reopen the government!
Every single time we have ever given funding to the United Nations, they have used it to try to chip away at our sovereignty. Finally, we have a President willing to put America first.
But both the Democrats and Republicans in Congress want to pull the rug out from under Trump and give it all back!
Trump's UN cuts were so serious, that the United Nations actually had restructure programs in order to keep them afloat. Other programs were simply shuttered for lack of funding.
But we have a chance -- right now -- to finish this, once and for all.
Congressman Mike Rogers (R-AL) has once again introduced his bill, the American Sovereignty Restoration Act (H.R.204). This legislation would cut off ALL funding to the United Nations. The only approved expenditures would be whatever is necessary to bring US officials and assets back to the United States.
But the bill doesn't just stop there. It would also block UN leadership from ever gaining command over elements of the United States Armed Forces and it would abolish diplomatic immunity for UN officials living or working in the United States.
The American Sovereignty Restoration Act would do just that: restore our sovereignty by cutting ties to the number one international organization trying to undermine us!
We know that the Democrats are going to do everything in their power to restore the UN funding that Trump cut. Establishment Republicans think they can get away with restoring this funding without you noticing.
It is up to you to prove them wrong!
