Anti-Trump Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) -- shown above -- just announced that the House Judiciary Committee will go into emergency session to vote on a radical package of new gun control bills!
The Committee is set to push through three bills designed to ban gun accessories and make it easier for the government to disarm Americans. The first votes have now been scheduled for September 4. A second hearing has also been scheduled for later in September to consider the Assault Weapon Ban of 2019, the biggest gun ban ever envisioned.
Democrats have been meeting with Republicans behind the scenes for two weeks now. These are the issues that the so-called Republicans agreed to. Democrats are saying that they have enough GOP support to push these bills through!
The first bill is called the "Keep Americans Safe Act." Yes, they are actually calling it that. Introduced by Rep. Deutch (D-FL), the bill would ban all firearm magazines that can hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition. Of course, the bill wouldn't stop criminals. A magazine is nothing but a box with a spring in it and can be made at home with basic tools.
Limiting magazine size also doesn't protect anyone. Rep Deutch represents the Parkland area in Florida. He claims that his bill would save lives. But during the Parkland school shooting last year -- the shooter used 10-round magazines because those are the only ones he could fit in his bag. He literally introduced a bill that wouldn't have stopped the shooting in his district.
But research does show that lower magazine capacity limits do make it harder for law-abiding citizens to defend themselves. There are countless stories of Americans who were able to fend off multiple attackers and home invaders because they had 15, 20, or even 30 rounds in their magazines. That is why Deutch's bill exempt police officers from having to comply with the ban. Police unions have lobbied Democrats and warned that officers would die if they had to use low-capacity magazines, so they have an exemption. But when it comes to us citizens, they're more than happy to let us die...
The next bill they are pushing through is their version of a Red Flag bill. We already know that the GOP's Senate version would usher in a wave of firearm confiscations across the country targeting innocent people. Democrats are promising that their bill will be even worse... Instead of Americans being presumed innocent, innocent gun owners would be presumed guilty and have to prove they deserve the right to own firearms...
But the last bill is perhaps the most dangerous. Over the past two weeks, we have seen Democrats start to call all conservatives "racists." If you support the President, you're a "racist." Well now, they want to pass a law to make it illegal for "racists" to own firearms.
Right now, you must commit a felony or misdemeanor domestic violence crime in order to lose your gun rights. That includes committing a felony hate crime. Democrats want to strip firearms from people convicted of misdemeanor "hate crimes." Of course, the devil is in the details. Serious hate crimes -- assault, murder, arson, etc -- are already felonies. In states like California and New York, misdemeanors would include prosecutions for so-called "hate speech."
There is no such thing as "hate speech." The Supreme Court has said that Americans have a 1st Amendment right to say almost whatever they want. The only speech the government can ban is speech designed to incite imminent violence. But the Left wants to criminalize "hate speech." Calling an illegal alien a criminal is considered "hate speech." Refusing to call a transgender person by their preferred pronoun is "hate speech." Shouting build the wall is "hate speech." See the pattern?
This bill would give the government the power to target gun owners and disarm them because of their political opinions.
House Democrats have also announced that they will hold a separate hearing on their proposed Assault Weapons Ban. As we have covered, this bill would ban millions of the most commonly-owned firearms in America. That includes guns Americans use for hunting, target shooting, and yes, self-defense...
Don't think that the Left can push this through? Republicans are already caving.
Marco Rubio has already endorsed the magazine ban bill. Half of the GOP has come out in favor of giving the government the power to disarm innocent Americans. And every week, more GOPers endorse the Left's sweeping gun ban proposal...
The House is holding an emergency session push these bills through. Senate Republicans are talking about doing the same sometime around Labor Day... And they are both considering the same exact bills...
This is happening whether you like it or not.
