Breaking News: Even after President Trump's address last night, Congressional Republicans are still working with Democrats to re-open the government and block the border wall project forever!
President Trump's address to the nation last night was excellent. He made a logical and reasonable explanation for why Congress must approve funding for not only the border wall, but also for increased border security.
He directly cited many of the tragedies that we have covered, where families were ripped apart by the scourge of illegal immigration.
One of Trump's best lines called out the Left for their hypocrisy:
"Some have suggested a barrier is immoral. Then why do wealthy politicians build walls, fences, and gates around their homes? They don't build walls because they hate the people on the outside, but because they love the people on the inside. The only thing that is immoral is for the politicians to do nothing and continue to allow more innocent people to be so horribly victimized."
Amazingly, the Left is digging its heels. But they're not alone. They have Republican help.
We now have three confirmed GOP turncoats who have announced that they want a vote on a clean government spending bill (which would not include any border wall funding). We knew that Cory Gardner and Susan Collins had flipped. We just confirmed that Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski has flipped as well. Add in other Republicans we suspect, like Mitt Romney, and the Democrats would technically have the votes for final passage of their bill to block the wall!
Last night, President Trump stopped short of declaring a national emergency, which would have allowed him to immediately begin border wall construction on his own. The White House confirmed that they are still working on drafting that declaration if it comes to it.
One of my biggest fears was that an emergency declaration would have let Congress off the hook. Had Trump declared the emergency and reopened the government, then it would simply take one activist judge to block the whole order and the President would have given up all of his leverage over the Congress.
Instead, the President has put all of the pressure on Congress. This is why these Republicans are so eager to surrender. They know President Trump won't cave, so this is their only chance to get the government re-opened.
If they can force a vote, then they can pass a bill to end the shutdown without even providing a cent for border wall construction...
President Trump will visit the Southern Border tomorrow to continue his push for the border wall. He isn't giving up and neither should you!
It is becoming harder and harder nowadays to find someone who doesn't have a family member or friend who has been victimized by the open borders. One of my friends lost his son to a heroin overdose.
We see weekly stories of Americans being killed or violently assaulted by illegal aliens. More Americans now die every year from opioid overdoses than perished in the deadliest year of the Vietnam War (1698).
How many more innocent Americans need to be killed or victimized at the altar that Leftists have created to worship illegal immigration?
The answer we keep hearing from Democrats is 'at least one more.' And now, Republicans are lining up to block the border wall and keep the southern border wide open for good!
President Trump ended his address with a call for all Americans to contact Congress and demand an immediate vote to secure the souther border.
It is all up to you!
