Something is happening right now in Washington DC that you need to know about. After the weekend's mass shootings, Democrats and Republicans are now committed to passing new gun control laws.
The Left wants to see how much gun control they can force down our throats. The GOP, on the other hand, is trying to figure out how much they can get away with... The only debate going on right now is how far both parties are willing to go.
And now President Trump has joined the push too. In a speech from the White House this morning, the President urged both parties to pass a new Red Flag law to allow police and prosecutors to confiscate Americans' guns.
This bill is the most dangerous gun control bill that we have seen in years because it would open the door for innocent Americans to be disarmed.
With the GOP ready to cave, Democrats are now licking their lips...
In the United States, there are only a few ways that the government can disarm gun owners. They all focus on disarming criminals and the mentally ill. But in order for the government to take away your rights, they have to first accuse you of doing something wrong. That means charging you with a crime.
This is what is known as due process. The government has the responsibility to prove that someone is guilty. That is because Americans are presumed innocent by default.
But the Extreme Risk Protection Order and Violence Prevention Act flips that concept upside-down. Instead of the government having to prove someone's guilt, this bill would allow prosecutors to use unsubstantiated hearsay in order to secure a confiscation order.
Here's how it would work. Family members, friends, neighbors, and even complete strangers would be allowed to turn gun owners into police. All they would need to do is claim the gun owner is dangerous, and that hearsay would be enough to seek a confiscation order.
Once their guns are taken away, the gun owner would then be allowed to petition the judge to get his or her rights back. That's right, instead of innocent until proven guilty, this bill would make gun owners guilty until proven innocent...
And if the disarmed gun owner can't convince the judge that they deserve their rights back -- remember, this is a judge who already determined that they were dangerous -- then the confiscation order would be extended for year. And all of this happens without the government even needing to accuse the gun owner of breaking the law.
That is why Democrats love this bill. It empowers government to confiscate guns from innocent Americans. That has always been their ultimate goal.
More and more Republicans are signing onto the bill in the Senate and Lindsey Graham is now promising to push it through committee. In the House, Nancy Pelosi is already talking about calling an emergency session in order to pass the gun confiscation bill.
The time to fight back is right now!
A few states have already implemented these laws and less than a year in, we are already seeing them abused. In Maryland, police launched a 5 am confiscation raid against 61-year-old Gary Willis. Not knowing who was banging on the door so early in the morning, Willis answered the door with a gun in his hand.
When he opened the door, Police ordered him to surrender all of his guns. Completely disoriented, Willis told them no. He had no idea why they were there. He was never invited to defend himself in a hearing. There he was, barely awake, and police officers were demanding that he surrender his God-given right to self-defense.
Willis said no. There was a struggle and his firearm went off. That led the officers to draw their weapons and shoot Gary Willis dead in his own doorway.
Willis was not mentally ill. He had not committed any crime. It turns out that he had gotten into a heated argument with a family member days prior. She decided to turn him into police to have his guns taken away. Police used that hearsay to convince a judge to sign their confiscation order.
This is what the future looks like if the Extreme Risk Protection Order and Violence Prevention Act passes. Innocent people will be disarmed and, yes, even killed if this bill passes. This bill is designed to let police disarm innocent people.
This is happening right now, whether we like it or not. The surrender is already underway...
