The mainstream media won't cover this, but President Trump is making serious progress on the border wall. Not only are larger bollard walls being erected to replace the Bush-Obama era "fencing," but Border Patrol is moving forward with new border wall projects.
The breaking news comes out of Texas. In recent days, US Border Patrol has submitted more than 200 applications to survey government land along the Rio Grande. One nosey local reporter started digging around and actually got the Trump administration to confirm that the notices are to "conduct real estate, environmental, and design surveys associated with the future construction of border barriers and other infrastructure included in the Fiscal Year 2017 and 2018 appropriations."
This is a big deal.
In California, Arizona, and New Mexico, the President's border wall construction was to replace and extend current fencing. This is the first evidence that President Trump is actually surveying and acquiring land to build a new border wall.
Trump is laying the ground work and having Border Patrol do the survey work now. This is important because when he gets funding for the wall, he will be able to start construction almost immediately.
But this is a stark reminder that there will be no wall and no border security without Congressional action. The President has moved funding around to replace/expand fencing and to survey new locations, but he can't start construction yet. Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell are still in the way.
Over the past year and a half, Ryan and McConnell kept kicking the can down the road on border security. Every time they were being pressured to uphold their promises, both men announced the timing wasn't right and that the border wall would have to wait.
A year ago, Paul Ryan's office released a slickly edited video showing the Speaker inspecting the southern border. While showing Paul Ryan riding horses and aboard a helicopter, the video declare's "it's time for the wall."
That was back when Ryan was going to run for re-election. But now that he is retiring, Ryan has completely blocked border wall funding from being added into the appropriations bills. These are the pieces of legislation that allocate funding for specific government projects.
Thanks to Ryan and McConnell, President Trump is actually prohibited from building any of the new border wall prototypes. That was something the GOP gaveaway in budget negotiations with the Left.
Now, we are back in the appropriations season. Congress must pass a dozen or so spending bills in the next few weeks. The Homeland Security Appropriations Bill -- where border security funding exists -- was just introduced in the House and Senate and guess what: it does not include border wall funding.
There's nothing particularly exciting about Congressional appropriations. Most of these committee hearings aren't even broadcast on cspan. That is by design. They want to negotiate and write these spending bills behind closed doors so that by the time the public finally learns what's in it, it is too late for you to do anything about it.
That's their goal. They're literally relying on you not paying attention.
We know that President Trump is laying all of the groundwork for border wall construction. But the RINOs like Ryan and McConnell are blocking the wall from being built.
Don't let this happen!
This fight is happening right now in Congress.
The establishment is counting on you not getting involved. They know that if they can get these appropriations bills through committee, they will be unstoppable.
That is why you need to fight this with everything you've got!
The window is starting to close. If border wall funding is not added to this year's appropriations bills, then we will have to wait until 2020 to break ground on a border wall.
Make no mistake: this is the establishment's plan. They know that if they can stall just a couple more weeks, they can stop a border wall from being built during Trump's first term.
This is a massive betrayal and it cannot be allowed to happen!
Act now!
