Breaking: Top GOPers just got caught trying to sneak a massive Democrat spending package through that not only fully funds Planned Parenthood and the UN, but bans a border wall from ever being built!
The Framers gave Congress the "power of the purse" for a reason. Congress gets to decide how taxpayer funds are used in the government. Congress has the power to decide which programs are funded and prioritizes and which are defunded.
With Republicans controlling both chambers of Congress, this yearly spending bill is supposed to push Conservative priorities. It is a chance for the GOP to finally make good on its promises.
But Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell just signed a deal with the devil. They are approving practically all of the Left's budget demands and stabbing Conservatives in the back in the process!
For one, Ryan and McConnell have attached the domestic spending package to the Department of Defense's budget. In order for Trump to continue funding the military, he has to agree to the Left's massive government spending increases.
That includes full funding for Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers. Back in 2015, Republicans in Congress actually sent a bill to Obama's desk to defund Planned Parenthood entirely. Today, with a President willing to sign that bill, Ryan and McConnell are cowering.
They are also completely surrendering on the border wall. The Senate just approved a massive spending bill that would only authorize a few dozen miles of border fence construction. Most of that funding will go towards upgrading existing-fences. The White House announced just days ago that border wall construction was finally beginning in El Paso, Texas. The truth? They are only allowed to build four miles of fencing. Any illegal alien willing to walk a couple miles will be able to just walk around the new wall.
On top of that, the GOP's new plan will restore funding that Trump cut from the United Nations and other international organizations. President Trump promised he would make these cuts unless the United Nations abandoned its anti-American agenda and he delivered. Now, the GOP leadership is preparing to restore almost everything that he cut and prevent him from cutting it again.
That is all in addition to the massive entitlement increases that Ryan and McConnell agreed to put into the bill.
Conservatives in Congress are fighting back, but Paul Ryan just dropped a bombshell. He is working with Nancy Pelosi to secure the votes, even if Conservatives vote 'no.'
They must be stopped!
Mitch McConnell phoned President Trump over the weekend and ordered him to sign the bill and avert a government shutdown.
It goes against everything that Trump and the GOP ran on, but the leadership is ordering him to sign it. They think they can deliver him an ultimatum.
The President needs your help!
While most of the media is focusing on the Brett Kavanaugh accusations and whether or not Rod Rosenstein will be fired, the GOP is trying to sneak this through right now.
Their goal is to send it to Trump's desk before American conservatives have a chance to stop it.
