The Senate just passed a massive "cromnibus" spending bill. Instead of passing new spending packages for 2019 as Pres. Trump demanded, they are passing a gigantic 855 billion spending bill that merely continues last year's spending levels.
What that means is that every single appropriation package that governed Federal spending this past year will do the same in 2019. In other words, it appropriates all of the funding to the United Nations that Trump just cut.
As you read this, President Trump is at the United Nations presiding over a UN Security Council meeting.
Last year, President Trump warned that the United Nations had become a "grave embarrassment" that used American tax dol.lars to "bash America and its friends." If the UN did not reform, Trump warned back in 2017 that the United States would begin cutting funding.
That is exactly what he did. Trump withdrew from the UN climate treaty and halted the 3 billion in "donations" that Obama had scheduled. Trump halted all work on the UN's gun control treaty and the Iran nuclear deal that Obama unconstitutionally signed. He cut 350 million to the UN's Palestine refugee agency, a slush fund used to prop up Hamas and reward the families of Palestinian terrorists. And on top of all of that, President Trump cut another three-hundred million from the United Nations' general fund.
We are talking about billions in cuts to both the UN and foreign governments, just in the last year alone. Trump has fulfilled his promise to put America first.
Now, Congress is voting on a spending bill that restores UN and international aid funding to the levels they were when Trump took office. They want to undo everything.
This CANNOT be allowed to happen!
The final vote is now being scheduled for this week. The GOP did this by design. Conservatives are outraged over this. In order to get their 'moderate' budget passed, the GOP had to surrender on most of the Left's demands and they're using the Kavanaugh hearing as cover for their betrayal.
The Obama-level funding for the UN's Green Climate Fund will be fully restored. This is the body that runs the UN's radical climate treaty. After Trump cut the funding, the Green Climate Fund was forced to suspend its wealth redistribution plans for 2018. This is the first time that has ever happened. Now, the GOP is going to restore all of it.
In yesterday's speech, Trump told the world that "moving forward, we are only going to give foreign aid to those who respect us and, frankly, are our friends." The cromnibus bill that the GOP is pushing will pull the rug out from under the President and force him to send billions in aid to America's enemies, the way Obama wanted it.
We watched last year as GOPers like Susan Collins, Lamar Alexander, and Lindsey Graham worked behind closed doors in the Appropriations Committee to restore this international aid. At the time, the Republican leadership said these moves were just temporary. Now, like clockwork, they are voting to make them permanent.
The deadline to keep the government funded is September 30. If Congress doesn't pass a dozen appropriations packages before then, the government will shut down.
Despite having a year to work on these bills, the GOP now claims they are out of time. The only solution, they say, is to pass the continuing resolution and to keep the government funded at last year's levels. They want you to believe they have no choice but to restore the UN's funding.
It's a lie.
The Republican leadership is pushing this surrender package because they want to. They never believed in Trump's cuts. They have always promised to interfere and restore the funding.
President Trump defied the United Nations yesterday and declared from their own podium that "we will never surrender America's sovereignty to an unelected, unaccountable, global bureaucracy."
The GOP leadership is laughing all the way to the bank...
Our goal is simple: stop this UN surrender bill from reaching Trump's desk. The GOP is trying to pressure Trump into signing it by lumping the United Nation's funding in with things like the defense budget and FEMA's hurricane relief.
Rep. Jim Jordan and the Freedom Caucus are leading the charge to kill this horrible liberal spending bill, but they need your help before it's too late!
