Breaking News: House Democrats just approved a budget amendment that would not only restore Federal funding to abortion butcher shops like Planned Parenthood, but also increase the funding by over a hundred million!
Elections have consequences. Democrats now control the House of Representatives and they are using their power to restore and increase Planned Parenthood's Federal funding.
Last year, President Trump issued an order restoring Ronald Reagan's "Protect Life" rule. This order prohibits Federal funding from going to organizations that provide or refer for abortions. For decades, the Hyde Amendment has blocked Federal funding from paying for abortions. However, technicalities within the law allowed this funding to still flow into abortion organizations as long as it isn't directly linked to the abortion procedures. Even though Federal funding hasn't directly gone to abortion procedures, Planned Parenthood admits that they would be out of business without it.
I get it, it isn't all that interesting to go into detail about Planned Parenthood's accounting tricks.
But this is the key point to take away from this: Planned Parenthood was able to perform 322,000 abortions last year because they received hundreds of millions in Federal funding.
President Trump's courageous order demands that Planned Parenthood make a choice: If they want to consider receiving Federal funding, they must stop performing and referring for abortions. Otherwise, they would need to figure out another way to keep their lights on...
But the Trump administration actually went even further than that. The new order stipulates that the Department of Health and Human Services must also provide funding to pro-life pregnancy centers that do not provide abortions. The Obama administration had tried to stop these pro-life organizations from accessing the funds.
Leftists cried out in horror when Trump's order came down. Even though it was an exact copy of a Reagan-era policy, the Left promised to do everything they could to restore the abortion funding. And yesterday, they took action to do just that...
The Democrat Leadership in the House of Representatives unveiled their draft budget yesterday. It includes a provision to not only block Trump's Title X funding cuts, but it also prohibits the funding from being disbursed to pro-life pregnancy centers. And as if that wasn't bad enough, the Left's radical provision would give an additional 114 million to Planned Parenthood next year.
President Trump's order makes complete sense. Since Federal law prohibits the government from funding abortions, the country's largest abortion provider should not have to rely on Federal funds in order to stay in business. Let them sink or swim on their own.
But this is far more than a fight over accounting. This is a fight for the soul of this country.
We have seen some pretty horrific things over the past couple months. States like New York legalized elective abortions up until delivery. The Governor of Virginia literally endorsed a bill that would allow post-birth abortions, where doctors can neglect or kill born-alive babies that survive abortion procedures. And radical Democrats in Congress blocked Sen. Ben Sasse's Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, leaving open a loophole that allows abortionists to kill babies born-alive after botched abortions.
President Trump's executive order will save countless innocent unborn lives. But like clockwork, pro-abortion Democrats are trying to undo it all...
We know what the Left's plan is. They are going to push this radical abortion funding through in the House and then demand that Republicans and Moderate Democrats (there still are a few left) rubber stamp it. We're already seeing the GOP leadership start to roll over on this.
Republicans will not fight for the unborn unless you force them to fight!
I understand that talking about a Health and Human Services spending bill isn't particularly exciting. Even my eyes started to gloss over a bit while explaining all of this.
But this one provision will determine the future of hundreds of thousands of unborn babies. This is literally a life and death decision.
We will always stand for life. We will always stand against the radical Democrats and their abortion policies.
