I don't like to think of myself as a single-issue voter. There are a bunch of issues -- immigration, pro-life, foreign policy, etc -- that guide my decision making around election time. But there is one issue that I will never compromise on: the right to keep and bear arms. I will not vote for a candidate who opposes the right to keep and bear arms. Period. I don't care who they're up against... I don't care what other issues they support... They will not receive my vote if they oppose the 2nd Amendment.
Luckily, I haven't been forced to make that tough choice. Whenever a Republican appears on the ballot for me, they tend to be pro-gun. That, however, is changing...
After the Parkland Shooting in Florida last year, we saw close to a half dozen Republicans suddenly flip to support Rep. David Cicilline (D-RI) and Sen. Dianne Feinstein's (D-CA) new assault weapons ban bill. The most prominent were Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL). Both campaigned on a promise to fight new gun bans. Both had received an A rating from the NRA in the previous election. But after the Parkland shooting, both came out and said they would now support the Left's on semi-automatic weapons and large-capacity magazines.
Now, after the shooting in Ohio, more Republicans are flipping. Rep. Mike Turner (R-OH) received an A rating from the NRA as recently as last year. When he ran for re-election, Turner promised that he would oppose any ban on commonly owned semi-automatic firearms used for hunting, recreational shooting and self defense.
Now, he has completely flipped. Mike Turner is now demanding that Congress pass a ban on semi-automatic firearms that would target tens of millions of law-abiding Americans!
The latest version of the Assault Weapons Ban (S.66) is the most radical that we have ever seen. We have covered this in the past, but it is so extreme that it would ban any semi-automatic rifle or shotgun that is capable of being held in your hand. That is actually in the bill. One of the proposed "military" features that would be banned is a "grip." Feinstein's bill would ban any guns that have "grips, or anything that can function as a grip." And as if that wasn't bad enough, the bill would ban 204 different models of firearms by name.
But it doesn't end there. The Cicilline-Feinstein gun ban would also ban tens of millions of pistols. The bill would redefine some of the most commonly owned pistols as assault weapons and instantly ban them. If a pistol has a threaded barrel, which millions do, it would be banned. If it incorporates an arm brace to make it easier to fire one-handed, it would be banned. (These arm braces were designed to help disabled Americans fire handguns one-handed).
Congress tried this in the 1990s. There was an assault weapons ban in this country for a decade, until it expired in 2004. The ban didn't stop the Columbine shooting. The Clinton administration studied the issue and found that the ban had no real effect on crime in the United States. This isn't about stopping criminals... this is about disarming law-abiding Americans like you and me.
That is the Left's ultimate goal. When the original assault weapons ban passed, Dianne Feinstein tried to force through a confiscation measure as well. She infamously said during an interview that she wanted to force "Mr. and Mrs. America to turn them all in," but she didn't have the votes to make it happen.
Today's Democrats are promising to make Feinstein's dream a reality. 15 of the 20 Democrat Presidential candidates want to ban semi-automatic guns. Half of them -- including Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, Pete Buttigieg, Beto O;Rourke, and Kamala Harris -- want to force you to turn them in to the Federal government. And when they're asked whether they would go door to door and round them all up, none of Democrats will say no...
Confiscation is the ultimate goal. That is why the Left is also pushing for a universal gun registry. But their first step is, and always has been, to ban these guns. They cannot confiscate Americans' guns without banning them first.
The Left has polished talking points. They claim that their bill would ban "weapons of war," but that isn't true. In just 25 years, this legislation has evolved from banning 24 guns to banning 204 firearms by name. And instead of targeting specific military features, today's bill would ban guns simply because they have a grip you can hold onto...
I went through the bill and was shocked. My concealed carry pistol would be banned because it has a threaded barrel. My shotgun that I use to hunt Geese would be banned because it accepts a detachable magazine. My competition target shooting rifle would be banned because it has an adjustable stock. The pistol that I keep locked in a safe in my truck would be banned because it has an arm brace attached. They're going after everything...
And now, Republicans are caving faster than ever before...
There is a reason that the GOP is caving. They are getting bombarded by gun control activists demanding a new gun ban. Republican Congressmen and Senators are terrified of losing their power, so they're caving...
Congressman Mike Turner (R-OH) is the latest Republican to flip and support a new gun ban. We are hearing that there are at least two dozen other GOPers ready to surrender as well.
We can still stop this, but we're running out of time. You need to force these cowards to fear YOU more than they fear these gun control organizations.
And the only way for that to happen is to fight back right now!
No surrender...
