Establishment and Globalist Republicans are furious. After a year and a half of planning, the Trump administration is finally making its move and cutting more than 3.5B in international aid funding!
This includes massive cuts to the United Nations and complete withdrawals from Obama-era aid programs meant to prop up the Palestinians government.
President Trump is keeping his promise to put America first. Essentially, even though Congress has appropriated billions to United Nations and other international aid programs, President Trump gets the final say over whether the funds actually get distributed. Trump is now saying that the 3.5 billion earmarked for these foreign aid programs is "no longer necessary" and would be returned to the treasury. This process is known as "rescission."
The plan is ingenious. But some in Congress are vowing to fight back.
Senator Bob Corker is a lame-duck Senator. He announced his retirement when he learned that his NeverTrump ramblings were making him incredibly unpopular in Tennessee. So, instead of standing for re-election (and losing), Corker retired and has spent the past months doing nothing but criticizing the President.
You can learn a lot about someone by examining what they prioritize when they're running out of time. Paul Ryan, for instance, is dedicating his last months in Congress to passing amnesty for illegal aliens. John McCain was determined to save Obamacare from being dismantled.
Bob Corker wants to preserve as many Obama-era foreign aid programs as possible... and he has help. Senator Bob Menendez -- who narrowly escaped conviction in a Federal corruption trial -- is promising to not only block Trump from cutting these programs, but also to block all of Trump's nominees.
The Trump administration is rolling out the biggest UN and international aid funding cut ever and the NeverTrumpers in Congress are desperate to stop him!
This reminds me of something that happened last year. President Trump announced that he was withdrawing from the UN Climate Treaty and would be withholding the funding that Obama promised.
Behind closed doors, Republicans Susan Collins (ME), Lamar Alexander (TN), and Lindsey Graham (SC) teamed up with Democrats to get the funding restored. They passed an amendment out of the Appropriations Committee and forced the Trump State Department to continue funding the UN's radical climate organization.
That was over a few million in funding. Just think of what these cowards would do to save 3.5 billion from being stripped from the UN and other foreign aid programs...
We are so close to victory. But now, establishment Republicans are working with Democrats to keep your taxdollars flowing overseas.
Every time Trump tries to take a hatchet to the UN's budget, RINOs rally to try to stop him.
For example, when Trump cut funding to the UN's Palestine agency, Democrats demanded that the funding be restored. Right now, the draft spending bills in Congress would actually restore Obama's promised funding to the Palestinians. It would even go towards funding textbooks that teach children to say 'death to America.'
For the past year and a half, President Trump has tried to defund UN aid programs one by one. Each time, Congress intervened to stop him. Now, he is going after it all in one fell swoop, but he needs your help to make it stick!
This is coming down to the wire. There are just a handful of legislative days before the end of the fiscal year. That is the deadline for Congress to pass spending bills to keep the government up and running.
The GOPers know that they ultimately get the final say over what funding is appropriated for. Trump can cut the funding and Congress can retaliate by reallocating it. That is the Establishment's plan.
We must stop them!
This truly is a once in a lifetime opportunity. We have never had a President so willing to defund the UN and its aid programs. Every Republican Presidential candidate has promised to cut the funding, but only President Trump is delivering. That is why the GOP establishment is so terrified. For once, they are actually being forced to do what they promised.
