There is no room for error. If we want Amy Coney Barrett to be confirmed to the United States Supreme Court before the election, and in time to hear challenges to election results (which will inevitably come), the Senate must stick to the schedule.
Right now, Amy Coney Barrett is meeting one-on-one with Senators. This is the first part of the process. Next, the Confirmation hearings in the Senate Judiciary Committee are set to begin on October 12. Hearings can last anywhere from a couple of days to a week and a half, depending on how successful the Democrats are at derailing it. From there, the nomination will go to the floor and the GOP has said they wanted a final up-or-down confirmation vote to happen before Halloween (October 31).
That does not leave us with a lot of breathing room. Since the election is on November 3rd, if the process is even delayed a couple days, Amy Coney Barrett will not be seated in time to hear election cases.
As you know, President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were diagnosed with Covid-19 last night. As we have reported, CDC statistics show that men in Donald Trump's age group have a 95+% chance of surviving the virus. Since he is the President, he will have access to bleeding edge medical equipment and technologies, so I am confident he will survive. But Leftists are already demanding that the confirmation process be delayed because of his positive test results!
You see, not only did Trump meet with Judge Barrett when he was potentially symptomatic, but he also met with other Senators like Mitch McConnell. Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) has just announced that he has also tested positive and is being forced to quarantine.
Here is the problem: Mike Lee sits on the Judiciary Committee. The Republicans hold a 12-10 majority on the Judiciary Committee. But if Senator Lee is unable to attend the hearing, then all of a sudden that majority shrinks to just one Senator... Normally, if one GOPer were to defect, the committee would end in a tie-vote and the confirmation would be sent to the floor. But if one GOPer defects while Mike Lee is quarantining, then Judge Barrett's confirmation would FAIL.
It is amazing. This year, Democrats fought hard to allow the House of Representatives to conduct its business virtually. We opposed the idea of remote votes on legislation because the Constitution requires that legislators be present to form a quorum, which is necessary for a vote. But technically, the Constitution does not require in-person Judiciary Committee hearings on nominations. Amazingly, however, the same Leftists who were so eager to vote remotely in the House are now adamant about Barrett's confirmation being held in-person. They aren't even trying to hide their bias anymore...
Mike Lee is hopeful that he will be recovered in time for a final vote. But technically, Lee is required to remain quarantined until after the committee hearing.
Remember, the Left doesn't need to defeat Judge Barrett's confirmation. They just need to delay it a day or two to make it impossible for her to be added to the bench in time to hear election cases. Democrats are now formally demanding a delay. Not only are they saying that the process is being rushed, but they are also demanding a delay because of these new COVID cases.
Do you want to know how radical the Left is? Last night, there were debates on Leftist social media pages talking about the need to delay the confirmation because if both Trump and Pence were to get Coronavirus, Nancy Pelosi could become President and formally withdraw Barrett's nomination entirely. These people are so sick, they are actually gameplanning a scenario where Trump and Pence go on ventilators and Nancy Pelosi would then get to undo the entire nomination.
Luckily, Pence has tested negative. But this is how radical the Left has become. They know that if they delay the confirmation even a couple of days, they can derail the entire process.
You CANNOT let this happen!
President Trump did his part. He fought back against the establishment and nominated Amy Coney Barrett to replace Justice Ginsburg.
Remember, it wasn't even a given that Amy Coney Barrett would get a hearing. We had to name and shame the GOP cowards to force them to hold the line and advance with the confirmation.
Now that President Trump has contracted Covid-19 and the first member of the Judiciary Committee has come down with the virus as well, Democrats are hoping that they can use this as an excuse to delay the confirmation, or even kill it entirely.
You must fight back before they get their way!
Sincerely,
Max McGuire
