Today was a glorious morning. Border wall construction along the California-Mexico border has officially begun. Trump ordered it to go ahead, with or without Congress.
Like clockwork, the Republican leadership is now scrambling to put a stop to it! This week, the GOP caucus will meet behind closed doors to debate immigration. Their goal is to come out of that meeting with a bill they can put onto the President's desk.
Trump is asking for border security, a crackdown on sanctuary cities, and serious reforms to our heavily abused legal immigration programs.
Establishment Republicans, on the other hand, want a clean amnesty bill. They want to pass the "Dream Act." This was the bill that Obama pushed to grant amnesty to millions of illegals without spending one cent to secure the border.
We were on the front lines when this amnesty bill was making its way through Congress. We bombarded Congress with more than 8 million faxblasts, ordering then-Speaker John Boehner and Mitch McConnell to stop this monstrosity from passing.
It came within a couple votes, but we succeeded in helping to kill it. Obama decided he would rule as a king and signed an executive order instructing the federal
Now, this bill is rearing its ugly head again and instead of fighting, the GOP establishment is onboard...
Twenty Republican Congressmen are demanding a vote on their amnesty bill. They have even teamed up with Democrats on a "discharge petition" to force a vote. Under the rules, if 218 Congressmen sign onto a discharge petition, they can bypass the House leadership and bring their bill right to the floor. Right now, they have 213 signatures. There are five other Republicans waiting to sign to see if Paul Ryan caves or not.
These cowards are demanding that Paul Ryan give them what they want (amnesty). Otherwise, they will help Democrats take over the House of Representatives.
That's what this play is. These establishment Republicans are demanding that Paul Ryan put Barack Obama's amnesty bill up for a vote, otherwise thy will put Nancy Pelosi in charge of Congress for a day.
The President has been firm over this. He will veto any bill that reaches his desk without full border wall funding and the other immigration reforms he is demanding. He has even told Congress that he will veto the next round of spending bills if a border wall isn't funded by then, even if that means shutting down the government.
Paul Ryan doesn't seem to care. He's retiring in less than half a year. His only interest right now is securing his legacy.
It is always telling how Congressmen or Senators act when they know it's their last term. They practically never swing to the right. Almost always, they start working with Democrats.
Ryan has already held meetings with far-left amnesty activists. He promised them to do everything in his power to protect Obama's illegal alien "dreamers."
We've stopped these cowards before and we will stop them again!
Ryan's plan is to put this to an up-or-down vote among Republicans. If the GOP supports the amnesty, then Ryan will schedule a vote. If the party rejects it, then Ryan still gets what he wants because the Democrats will still have the necessary votes to push it through.
Paul Ryan should be fighting this, but he isn't. Luckily, Conservatives Members of Congress are!
This is it. Everything that we have fought for comes down to right now.
We have one week to stop amnesty from becoming the law of the land.
It is literally now or never!
