Tomorrow is the State of the Union and President Trump is planning a bombshell announcement: declaring a national emergency at the southern border to begin border wall construction immediately.
In 1976, Congress passed the National Emergencies Act. This gave the President the power to use discretionary funding to deal with national security crises. Instead of waiting for Congress to do something, the bill gives the President billions of dol lars to fix problems on his own.
It is completely legal and constitutional. Every President since 1976 has used this power to declare national emergencies. There are currently 31 national emergencies that were issued by past Presidents and still active.
Nancy Pelosi promised to negotiate over the border wall if Trump re-opened the government. Surprise: she was lying. Just days ago, Pelosi again promised that Trump would never get funding for a border wall.
Republicans can't surrender fast enough. They are now negotiating on a border security bill that will permanently block new border wall construction.
Mitch McConnell just threatened Donald Trump that there would be serious consequences if he declares a national emergency. The GOP leadership would rather cave on the border wall than allow President Trump to build it on his own.
You CANNOT let these Republicans traitors cave like this!
Nancy Pelosi has promised to never allow a border wall to be built. Mitch McConnell has threatened the President that there will be hell to pay if he declares a national emergency and goes it alone.
We now know what those repercussions look like.
House Democrats are working on legislation to pull the plug out from under President Trump. Not only would they pull the thousands of troops stationed at the southern border, but they plan to defund the National Emergencies Act to prevent Trump from building a border wall.
This isn't a bluff. When Democrats put forward a bill a week and a half ago to re-open the government and block the border wall construction, they got a bunch of Republican votes. In the Senate, they had enough GOP turncoats for their bill to pass in a final vote.
They don't care about protecting the American people. The Left and GOP establishment only care about denying the President a "win." If that means more Americans get victimized by illegal aliens and cross-border crime, they don't care.
The President is out of options. He re-opened the government in the hope that Democrats would compromise on the wall and he can't even get Republican negotiators to fight for border security...
The Establishment knows if they can block Trump's emergency order, they can stop the border wall from ever being built.
It is up to YOU to stop them!
When Nancy Pelosi took over the House, the GOP leadership breathed a sigh of relief. They thought the border wall would never get built.
They never would have imagined that Trump would bypass them entirely.
Trump's emergency declaration is the only way to get the wall built. But the GOP also knows that if they can stop it, then they can block the wall permanently.
There's no middle ground here. Either the border gets secured or the establishment succeeds in keeping it wide open. The future of our country depends on this!
