We did it!
All around the country, brave patriots demanded real justice for the victims of the 9/11 attacks and the Senate listened! They just passed the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act unanimously!
A little background: The Saudi Arabian royal family has been implicated in financing the 9/11 terror attacks. There are 28-pages of classified documents from the 9/11 Report that everyone who has read them says implicate the Saudi royal family.
On the books right now is a 1976 law that gives foreign government some immunity from lawsuits here in the United States.
This new bill, the one that the Senate passed yesterday unanimously, creates a carve out to allow victims and their families to sue any foreign government found to be behind a terror attack that kills Americans.
It’s really common sense.
Which is why it is so telling that Obama has promised to veto this bill. He flew halfway around the world to promise the Saudi Arabian regime that this legislation would never see the light of day and the Senate just passed it unanimously…
But not so fast… Paul Ryan has declared that he’s not going to put this common-sense bill up for a vote!
Again, it is quite telling that Obama has promised to veto this bill.
Here is what Senate Bill 2040 says:
The purpose of this Act is to provide civil litigants with the broadest possible basis, consistent with the Constitution of the United States, to seek relief against persons, entities, and foreign countries, wherever acting and wherever they may be found, that have provided material support, directly or indirectly, to foreign organizations or persons that engage in terrorist activities against the United States.
That’s all it does. Under this legislation, anyone who becomes a victim of a terror attack has the right to seek restitution from those who sponsored the attack.
Obama and Ryan are speaking out of both sides of their mouths. On the one hand, they are claiming that this would be a dangerous precedent to set while simultaneously saying that Saudi Arabia is innocent.
Well, if Saudi Arabia didn’t finance the 9/11 attacks, then they have absolutely nothing to worry about. The only people who stand to lose from this legislation are those who finance terror attacks against Americans. No ally of ours should have to worry about this bill.
Makes you wonder who is paying these lobbyists to fight against the legislation…
The fact is that by threatening to veto this bill and refusing to hold a vote in the House, Barack Obama and Paul Ryan are siding with terrorist financiers. It’s despicable.
As I said, Paul Ryan has said there won’t be a vote on this bill. He’s decided to halt it in its tracks.
But he doesn’t get the final say!
This isn’t trivial. If a foreign government finances a terror attack against Americans, they have to answer for their actions.
It's a sad day when the Republican Speaker of the House would conspire with a Democrat President to protect members of the Saudi Royal Family who financed the worst terror attack on US soil.
A line has been drawn in the sand. Either you believe that the 9/11 victims and their families should have their day in court or you believe that the Saudi financiers should keep their immunity. It’s one or the other.
We stand with the 9/11 victims, their families, and the first responders and we ask you to stand with us and FIGHT for their rights!
