This is a long write-up, but it is critically important.

Last week, we told you that the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act had reached a major milestone with the 210th Congressmen officially signing onto it. This legislation would allow law-abiding Americans to carry firearms nationwide and would completely dismantle liberal states' anti-gun laws that have been on the books for close to a century.

Reaching this 210 co-sponsor number means the bill is just eight votes away from passing the House.

The bill has the backing of every gun rights group, it has enough support to pass the House, and yet, it is still collecting dust. Why? Because Paul Ryan is refusing to schedule a vote. He thinks that "the timing isn't right."

For the first time in a decade and a half, Republicans control the House, Senate, and the Presidency. There is literally no excuse for inaction. Paul Ryan just doesn't want to see nationwide concealed carry become a reality!

Luckily, it is not up to him. There is a way around his sabotage...

In Congress, the Speaker of the House and the Senate Majority Leader typically control which bills come to the floor for a final vote. The result is that even if legislation has wide support, if the leadership opposes it, they can kill the bill. This is what Paul Ryan is trying to do with the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act.

Luckily, the founders included a mechanism to make sure that one man cannot stop legislation from moving forward. It is called a "discharge petition." In the Senate, it is called a "discharge resolution." If 218 Congressmen sign onto the discharge petition, then they can force a vote on a piece of legislation, regardless of what the Speaker of the House says.

Usually, this is a last-ditch solution. However, because the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act itself already has 210 sponsors/co-sponsors, a discharge petition can actually work if all of them sign on.

In early September, Congressman Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) signed on as a co-sponsor. This is important because he is the Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, the man who will ultimately decide whether this concealed carry bill passes through the committee. Yet, Paul Ryan is putting on the brakes and refusing to let the bill move forward.

Congressmen are starting to get tired of Paul Ryan carrying the Democrats' water. Representative Thomas Massie (R-KY) just blew the whistle, admitting on a radio show that Ryan told him personally that he was blocking concealed carry reciprocity because "he didn't think the timing was right."

"The Speaker told me he didn't think the timing was right. And I think this is the exact timing to bring this bill," Rep. Massie said publicly.

This is a big deal. The fact that Congressmen are starting to publicly go after Paul Ryan for blocking this is a huge sign. If they are willing to publicly shame him on television and radio, then they are more than capable of signing a petitition to force a vote!

This is not a victimless issue. Every year, countless Americans are victimized and even killed because, even though they are allowed to carry a firearm in one state, they were forced to disarm by anti-gun states. Many people choose to carry a firearm anyway because they refuse to disarm and wind up arrested and thrown behind bars. Others just have a gun in their car console out of habit and completely forget it's there, only to face felony charges when they're pulled over in an anti-gun state like Maryland or New Jersey.

Enough is enough. I currently hold concealed carry permits from two separate states. Even with these two permits, I am still not allowed to carry a gun in 13 states. But what is even more nonsensical is that one in every four Americans live in states that openly and brazenly block their residents from exercising their 2nd Amendment rights.

Actually, let's get specific: 26.15% of Americans live in anti-gun states like California, New York, and New Jersey that disregard the Bill of Rights by arbitrarily rejecting concealed carry permit applications and refusing the honor out-of-state permits.

The Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act fixes all of this. If you have a concealed carry permit from a state, you would be allowed to carry in every state. If you live in a Constitutional Carry state like Vermont or Arizona, where residents are entitled to carry a concealed weapon without a permit, you would be able to carry your gun nationwide as well.

And here is the best part: If you live in an anti-gun state, you would be able to get a non-resident carry permit from Utah or Florida and use that permit to carry nationwide... including in your home state.

This is the biggest gun rights bill ever to be introduced into Congress. It would restore the 2nd Amendment's right to bear arms to the 26.15% of Americans who are having that right infringed upon and it would ensure that all law-abiding Americans have the right to carry nationwide.

Unfortunately, one man - Paul Ryan - is blocking this common sense bill from moving forward. Don't let him get away with this!
