I try to refrain from sending two gun rights emails in a row. But this simply couldn’t wait. The ATF literally just announced that it is going to ban an entire subset of AR-15 ammunition!
The ammunition is classified as M855. It is the exact same ammunition used by our military and as a result, it has become a popular round for target shooting and even defense.
But the ATF wants to ban this ammo. Why? Because the bullets have a tiny amount of steel in them.
You see, in 1986, Congress passed a law banning armor piercing pistol ammunition. In order to be classified as an “armor piercing bullet,” a pistol round would have to meet one of these criteria.
1) a projectile or projectile core which may be used in a handgun and which is constructed entirely (excluding the presence of traces of other substances) from one or a combination of tungsten alloys, steel, iron, brass, bronze, beryllium copper, or depleted uranium; or
2) a full jacketed projectile larger than .22 caliber designed and intended for use in a handgun and whose jacket has a weight of more than 25% of the total weight of the projectile.
The M855 AR-15 ammunition doesn’t fall under either of these. It is not legally considered armor piercing, but the administration wants it to be, so they are re-rewriting a decades-old law to fit their agenda.
The ammunition has a lead cord, not a steel core. It simply has a steel tip. And being that it was designed and intended for use in a rifle, it does not meet the second criterion. The fact that AR-15 pistols exist does not change the fact that the ammunition is intended for use in a rifle.
This is an incredibly dangerous power grab by Obama’s ATF! They are attempting to literally re-write the law to disarm you and millions of other Americans.
You CANNOT allow this to happen!
The law is clear and this ammunition does not meet the criteria for it to be classified as “armor piercing.”
But the ATF believes that it should be banned because it doesn’t have a “sporting purpose.” This is the phrase that gun grabbers use to disarm the populace. Since you can’t hunt with this ammunition in many states, Obama’s ATF believes you shouldn’t be allowed to own it.
The Second Amendment has NOTHING to do with target shooting, collecting, or hunting. The only type of hunting that falls under the Second Amendment is the hunting of TYRANTS!
And that is what terrifies the gun grabbers within the Obama administration so much. They failed in trying to outlaw the AR-15. Now they are using the ATF to starve gun owners of the bullets.
The ATF wants to rewrite the law to ban any ammunition that can pierce a bullet-proof vest. Now, at first glance, that might seem like a noble pursuit. Except for the fact that the majority of hunting rounds have enough energy to pierce a vest.
There’s a reason that this announcement comes just weeks after prominent Democrats introduced legislation to ban the private ownership of body armor.
They don’t want you to be able to defend yourself. Whether it is against a robber or a tyrannical government, liberals believe that citizens shouldn’t be allowed to defend themselves. They see you as slaves, not citizens.
In one month, this rule change will be official and the Obama administration will have succeeded in banning one of the most popular types of ammunition in America today.
The ATF has opened the topic up for public comments, but they’ve already made up their minds.
The people you need to reach out to right now are the Representatives and Senators in Congress!
The Obama administration CANNOT be allowed to rewrite the law to ban an entire class of ammunition for the most popular gun in America!
Demand that Congress STOP the Obama administration’s ammunition ban before it is too late!
