Fellow Conservative,
I want to tell you a story...
I am sure you know of Jack Nicholson, the actor famous for such movies as The Shining, Chinatown, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, and A Few Good Men. He has won multiple Oscar awards.
Being a big time actor in Los Angeles, you can expect that Nicholson is pretty liberal – which is correct. But there is one issue that he is staunchly against: abortion.
You see, Jack Nicholson was almost aborted himself. His mother was a showgirl and was contemplating abortion in order to salvage her career. Luckily for Jack and the rest of the world, his mother chose to have the baby and let her parents – Jack’s grandparents – raise him.
Jack Nicholson has always been anti-abortion because he realizes he could have just been another statistic…
This, of course, begs the question of what the world would be like if Jack Nicholson was never born. I can’t even fathom it.
But the larger question is what else has the scourge of abortion taken from our society? How many actors, scientists, diplomats, businessmen, future-mothers and fathers were never even born because of abortion? What has the world missed out on?
Personally, I was born premature. I had to spend weeks in an incubator at the hospital. The idea that children are being aborted when they could instead be born alive and survive is chilling.
That is why I support the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Prevention Act and I beg you to support it too!
The Pain-Capable Unborn Child Prevention Act would make it illegal to abort babies after the 20th week of gestation. Since Roe v Wade, science has advanced to the point that children are able to be born earlier and earlier and survive it. Today, many medical experts believe that the point of viability has shifted all the way to 21-weeks.
At 20-weeks, unborn children start to feel and register pain. If a doctor has to perform surgery on a 20-week-old baby in-utero, he or she must administer anesthesia in order for the surgery to be ethical.
Yet if the surgeon was an abortionist, the law would allow him or her to literally dismember the baby alive. I don’t want to gross you out with specifics, but when I say dismemberment, I mean that the doctors rip the baby apart limb from limb while it is still alive.
Since this legislation was introduced, we’ve learned that abortion providers actually make more money when they dismember babies because it increases the amount of tissue and organs they can sell.
If I could snap my fingers and outlaw all abortions, I would. But we can’t. Instead, we need to play the long game and chip away at this over time.
Every year, there are about 1.06 million abortions performed in the United States. 1% of those are performed after the 20th week. That’s a little more than ten thousand babies a year.
With one vote, Congress can literally save 10,000 babies every year. I know this might seem like a drop in the bucket, but it is worth fighting for.
Senator John Thune (R-SD) has used a parliamentary maneuver to fast-track the bill and skip the committee process. That means that a vote can come as early as TOMORROW on this important issue.
The vote is going to be close. I beg you: FaxBlast Congress and tell them to pass this legislation by any means necessary! Every day that Congress waits, another 27 children murdered and denied a chance to live.
Sincerely,
Max McGuire
