The House of Representatives is voting any minute now to halt President Obama’s Syrian/Iraqi refugee program. Not permanently, mind you. This legislation has one purpose: to ensure that every refugee allowed into the United States is 100% vetted.
The bill – named the American Security Against Foreign Enemies (SAFE) Act of 2015 – will increase the background check requirements and deny entry to anyone who doesn’t pass with flying colors.
It’s common sense. If we are going to let people resettle here, then we need to be 100% sure they don’t pose a threat. After what has happened in Paris, and the newest revelations of Syrians being caught in Central America with stolen passports bound for the US, we MUST get this bill through.
Obama, however, has promised to veto the bill. That’s right, he has sworn to veto any bill that puts refugee applicants under increased scrutiny. After all that has happened, he wants to make it easier for terrorists to slip through!
He actually wants to let people into the country without being fully vetted!
This legislation has two essential requirements
(1) The FBI Director must certify the background investigation of each refugee and (2) the Secretary of Homeland Security, FBI Director and the Director of National Intelligence must unanimously concur that each refugee is not a security threat to the United States and make a certification to Congress.
This is just such common sense.
