“The authority of the government is essentially limitless.” -Senator Ron Wyden (R-OR)

The plot to George Orwell’s novel “1984” details a society “of perpetual war, omnipresent government surveillance, and public mind control, dictated by a political system under the control of a privileged Inner Party elite that persecutes all individualism and independent thinking as thoughtcrimes. Big Brother and the Party justify their rule in the name of supposed greater good.”

Wake up, America: this is our future. This is the fundamental transformation Barack Obama warned us about. Right now, you have absolutely NO PRIVACY. Anything and everything you do is accessible by the federal government, just because they ask for it! No account is off-limits.

If you don’t think BIG BROTHER is coming, YOU AREN’T PAYING ATTENTION!

Tell Congress to stop “dragnet-style” spying on American citizens. DEMAND the Senate pass protection laws for American citizens! If you do not speak up now, you may literally be forced to FOREVER hold your peace.

The Obama administration is violating laws at every turn. The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act order (FISA) has been abused by this administration and interpreted to mean that every single American citizen should expect to be under surveillance. Internet providers are trying to adhere to the Stored Communications Act and the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, but the government is putting pressure on them to just turn over your information and ignore the laws on the books.

Amazingly, the U.S. government IS DEMANDING your online passwords! They say they have a right to this personal information!

It’s open season on the American people! Why do we even need all those passwords anyway if the government can just come in and take them against our will? Ditch your password today and just hand all your stuff over to the government and save them the time and money…after all, they are using YOUR TAX DOLLARS to spy on you!

When asked about the government requesting passwords, some companies said they don’t like to do it and they “push back” hard against such requests. However, Apple, Facebook, AOL, Verizon, AT&T, Time Warner Cable, and Comcast DID NOT RESPOND to whether or not they have complied. Nor did the FBI have anything to say about the practice.

Who needs laws, right? What good is our Bill of Rights?

Think about the plot of every government conspiracy movie you’ve ever seen: a flash drive or disk exists containing a computer program that can access any computer in the world. He who holds this program can rule the world. The owner of this technology can manipulate finances, stocks, healthcare records, identity files, emails, passwords, family information, medical records, etc.

THIS IS NOT THE PLOT OF A MOVIE. THIS IS VERY REAL. And, our representatives are nervous, but they are not taking action to stop it!

Facing backlash over the NSA spying revelations, Obama just decided to declassify some documents related to their Verizon data collection. He figures, “Here, let me throw you some scraps and shut you up. See? There is nothing to see here.” WRONG, MR. PRESIDENT: THERE IS EVERYTHING TO SEE HERE.

Just recently Rep. Justin Amash (R-MI) proposed an amendment in the House that would block funds to the NSA and stop them from collecting phone records. HIS AMENDMENT WAS DEFEATED. Granted, it wasn’t defeated by a large margin, but that means there are Members of Congress who are completely on-board with government surveillance.

WE MUST PUT AN END TO THIS. They must hear that the American people will not put up with a huge Big Brother state! Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT) has similar legislation in the Senate. Tell them to pass it! Demand your privacy!

We really wouldn’t blame you if you ignore this message…it is all very scary. But putting our heads in the sand is not going to STOP the United States from becoming a huge surveillance state.

Why is the Department of Homeland Security purchasing billions of rounds of hollow point bullets? Why have they secured bullet-proof checkpoints, riot gear, large assault vehicles and anti-radiation pills? What do they know that we do not? Should we expect a threat is coming our way from within, or from a foreign enemy?

Remember, the DHS released a report warning of radical groups like people who are Christian, pro-life, against big government, and men and women who are returning military veterans.  The IRS targeted conservatives and prevented a fair election. The FBI, NSA and other agencies tasked with intelligence gathering have been reading your emails, watching your phone calls and monitoring your travel.

There is no telling what Obama will put these groups in charge of next, or how he will use his power to kill our rights. Whatever happens, we know the federal government will be well-armed and well-protected; American citizens will not.

You are a government file. They know who you call, and for how long. They know intimate information about your family and your personal habits. They know the organizations you belong to, and the charities you give to. They know the types of things you read about on the Internet, and the subjects you talk about in your emails and instant messages.

However, you are only as valuable as the government deems you to be.

How will they use your personal data against you? Will it be to influence election results, changing the course of our nation? Will it be to harass you or family members over a membership? Will it be to deny you a right, such as the IRS did to Tea Party organizations? Will it be to shut you up and stop you from speaking your truth?

Tell Congress to stop “dragnet-style” spying on American citizens. DEMAND the Senate pass protection laws for American citizens! If you do not speak up now, you may literally be forced to FOREVER hold your peace.

Edward Snowden is not the story. You may think he is a hero, and you may consider him a traitor. The fact is, Edward Snowden and Bradley Manning were able to access super-secret information. So, how safe is your data with the U. S. government? Do you feel it is protected? Even if no government agency ever uses your data against you—and that is a very big IF—that doesn’t mean that someone with a darker agenda won’t take it and use it to destroy your life.

This is not about terrorism. That is how they are trying to justify it, but it’s not about terrorism. This is about data collection, manipulation and ultimately, control.

The United States government can search data on millions of people in the course of an investigation of one individual. Maybe a terrorist once had an account at the same bank you use. Maybe they bought a car from the dealership you frequent. Perhaps they know someone you do business with several people removed. It doesn’t matter if you are a law-abiding citizen and you would never commit an act against the United States, you and everything you’ve ever done can be looked at by the federal government without a warrant or just cause. And the people YOU communicate with aren’t safe from surveillance, either!

You saw a doctor for postpartum depression after the birth of your first child, years ago. Today you go register for a gun and are told you cannot have one; you are considered a risk. You sent various emails to a conservative Member of Congress praising them for their floor votes, and then you donated to their campaign. All of a sudden the IRS sees something “irregular” on your taxes and calls for an audit. You bank at the same place a suspected terrorist does. You’ve never met this person and would never consider harming the United States of America. But now all your financial records come under scrutiny and the investigation causes problems at your job. You are fired. End of story.

They may not be interested today or tomorrow in what you are up to and how you live your life, but ultimately, they will be. The IRS targeted conservatives. The White House intimidated journalists. This administration wants to take away your Second Amendment rights. The United Nations wants to alter your way of life in order to save the planet from global warming.

Is this okay with you?

Congress can stop this, if they want to. Secret spying is not okay—and neither is the suppression of political expression in the United States. Fax Congress right now and tell them to shut down the illegal and unconstitutional NSA spying operation. Do it before it’s too late!

"I have often regretted my speech, never my silence." - Xenocrates (396-314 B.C.)

The NSA Data Center is 1 million square feet. It collects and stores 1.7 billion emails, phone calls, and other types of communications each and every day. This information is sorted into 70 separate databases. What does your file look like?

We do have some allies in Congress. Senator Jeff Merkley (D-OR) has introduced a bipartisan bill that would force the government to answer to FISA’s interpretation of the Patriot Act. It challenges the legality of this surveillance. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) has also introduced a bill that would “stop the National Security Agency from spying on citizens of the United States.”

Those speaking out need our support. This issue cannot get lost in the immigration debate or the scandal of the day. Don’t let Congress ignore your rights to First and Fourth Amendment protection while they focus on giving Constitutional and legal protection to those who weren’t born here.

Tell them to stop the illegal and intrusive NSA surveillance, and that you will be watching how they vote on issues that affect your Fourth Amendment rights.

Sincerely,

Tony Adkins
