This week, the Supreme Court made a major Second Amendment decision. The Court decided NOT to hear Stephens v Jerejian, a New Jersey case challenging the state’s concealed carry ban. This is a major setback.

If you go to the Supreme Court’s website, you can see how it was denied.

“Rehearing DENIED. Justice Gorsuch took no part in the consideration or decision of this petition.”

At least four Supreme Court Justices need to vote to hear a case in order for it to be added to the Court’s calendar. This was one of the cases that we were hoping Justice Gorsuch would be able to influence. It seems that the Court’s liberal Justices killed it just before Justice Gorsuch was sworn in.

But here is the thing: If there weren’t four votes in the Supreme Court to protect the right to bear arms before Gorsuch was sworn in, then that means there aren’t five votes to protect the right to bear arms now that he is on the bench…

The courts will not save the Second Amendment. Concealed carry reciprocity will only come from Congress!

In 2004, President George W Bush signed the Law Enforcement Officers’ Safety Act into law. This bill dictated that current and retired law enforcement officers are sufficiently trained in the use of defensive firearms and it is in the national interest that all 50 states accept their concealed carry permits.

Liberal states challenged this law in court. States like New Jersey and California didn’t want to let retired police officers from Texas, for example, carry firearms in their states. The Courts ultimately upheld LEOSA as being Constitutional.

The United States Congress has the constitutional authority to enact concealed carry reciprocity. And now it is time for us to force them to exercise this authority.

Here’s what the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017 would do. If you are licensed by any state to carry a concealed firearm, then you would be permitted to carry a gun in every state.

We here at Conservative Daily firmly believe in constitutional carry. We believe that the Constitution should be the only carry permit any of us should need. Thirteen states have now passed constitutional carry laws, meaning that if someone can legally own a gun, they can legally carry a gun. This is where the country is heading.

Right now, however, we need to move the needle. Concealed carry reciprocity isn’t perfect, but it is a step in the right direction. It would bust down the leftist anti-gun iron curtain and force liberal states to respect the right to bear arms.

I have no doubt that Justice Gorsuch will vote on the Supreme Court to uphold the Second Amendment. But it cannot be left up to nine unelected men and women in robes to decide whether you and I have a constitutional right to defend ourselves.

The fact that liberals on the court rushed to deny a concealed carry case just before Gorsuch was sworn in tells you all you need to know. We cannot trust the Supreme Court to uphold our right to bear arms.

It is time to take action!

There are more than enough votes in the House to pass the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act. Then, it just comes down to forcing Senate Democrats from pro-gun states like Montana and West Virginia to support it.

There was already a push to get this legislation through but with the Supreme Court’s latest decision, it is now more important than ever to make concealed carry reciprocity the law of the land.

Not only would the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act make carry permits valid nationwide, but it would ultimately force anti-gun states like New York and Massachusetts to extend carry rights to their citizens as well.

This is the Second Amendment fight of our time. Years from now, people will look back on this moment.

How do you want them to remember this? As as a moment that slipped through our grasps? Or as the time brave patriots protected or expanded the right to bear arms?

President Trump campaigned on a promise to make concealed carry reciprocity the law of the land. The votes are there in Congress to make it happen.
