Mitch McConnell is moving ahead with the gun control vote today. He is hell-bent on getting something passed. He doesn’t care what it is, he just wants more gun control.
The “debate” begins today at 3:00 PM Eastern. The final vote will come this evening.
In 2013, the Senate spent a whole week debating gun control, inside and out of committee, and then-minority leader Mitch McConnell voted “NO.” Today's bills are being rushed to a vote. They don't want the American people to learn what is in them.
McConnell is more than happy to oblige. But it’s even worse. Not only is McConnell holding a vote on a bill to let the government keep a database of American gun owners, but he is also bringing a bill to the floor to absolutely eliminate your due process rights!
In order to defeat the Democrats, we must first defeat the Republicans...
Like the Speaker of the House, the Senate Majority Leader has tremendous power over whether a piece of legislation receives a floor vote.
If a bill goes against the interests of the majority, Mitch McConnell would be able to just kill the bill without putting people through a vote. He also has the power to schedule something for a floor vote if he believes it is worth debating.
Just to put it in perspective, in 2013, Mitch McConnell filibustered the Democrats’ gun control bills to stop them from coming to a vote.
Today, he is rolling out the red carpet to let these same types of bills come up for passage.
The only difference between now and three years ago is that Mitch McConnell is no longer running for re-election. He won another 6 year term in 2014, so he won’t have to worry about pretending to be a conservative until 2019.
The bills that McConnell is teeing up today in the Senate are patently unconstitutional. They would push us down the path towards mandatory gun owner registration and would give the FBI the power to disarm Americans without ever proving they committed a crime or even charging them.
Over the past week, we’ve sent over 1 million faxes to Congress demanding that they stop these bills from coming up for a floor vote. Unfortunately, the GOP leadership is hell-bent on dismantling the 2nd Amendment today.
There is only one solution: Mitch McConnell must be removed as Senate Majority Leader!
For the past couple of days, we have been calling for McConnell’s removal if he ended up going through with his gun control surrender.
It’s no longer a question of if… The vote to dismantle your constitutional rights is today at 3:00PM.
Mitch McConnell is solely to blame for this. He has gone from filibustering gun control bills to now bending over backwards to give these gun grabbers the best opportunity to win.
For months, we have been urging McConnell to use the power of the purse to force Obama to abandon his gun control agenda. Never in our wildest dreams did we think McConnell would use the power of the purse to support this gun control…
He has to go. Period.
By scheduling the vote for today, Mitch McConnell has stabbed you in the back. Are you going to take it?
