As of today, the UN Climate Treaty has officially “entered into force” worldwide. Tomorrow, world leaders will meet in Marrakech, Morocco to strategize the treaty’s implementation. A few days into the meeting, John Kerry will deliver a keynote speech and hand over another sizeable check to help the UN implement this treaty.
As you know, Congress never ratified the UN Climate Treaty. In fact, a group of Republican Senators just sent another sternly worded letter reminding the President that Congress has not ratified it. Obama doesn’t care. He plans to implement and finance it on his own.
Previously, Obama cut a $500 million check to the UN to finance the treaty’s implementation. He has promised a total of $3 billion. In just a few days, when John Kerry arrives at the meeting in Morocco, he will deliver another sizeable check to the UN.
We have just a few days to stop this!
The UN Climate Treaty would place onerous new restrictions on American businesses. It would force manufacturers to scale back emissions and become unprofitable in the process, all while third world countries continue with business as usual.
We all want clean air and clean water. But the ends do not justify the means. Obama cannot simply join an international treaty without Congressional ratification. He cannot give away billions of dollars of taxpayer money to finance a Treaty that was not constitutionally approved.
That is what Obama is doing. He is shredding the Constitution before our eyes and surrendering US sovereignty to the UN in the process.
It really does come down to protecting our sovereignty. The Founders added the Treaty Clause to the Constitution to ensure that no President would have the authority to bypass Congress to enact international law. They added this provision to ensure that Congress retained the ultimate power to write American law.
With this one action, Obama has sent us spiraling down the path towards a Constitutional crisis.
The President believes that he has found a loophole. If Congress refuses to pass his legislative agenda, he believes that he should have the authority to appeal to the United Nations.
He has done this already on gun control, on immigration, on nuclear disarmament, and now he is bypassing Congress again on “climate change.”
John Kerry is slated to arrive at the UN climate treaty meeting sometime in the next week.
When he does arrive, he will deliver to the United Nations a check in the hundreds of millions, if not billions, of dollars of YOUR money. All without Congressional approval…
There is still time to stop this. There is still time to defund Obama’s plans and force John Kerry to arrive at the UN meeting in Morocco penniless. But we have a short window and it is closing fast!
