We knew this would happen eventually... it was only a matter of time.





King Barack Obama is at it again, this time violating the law of the land in order to further his own gun control agenda. Obama has used an executive order to strike down parts of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) to make medical and mental health information available to the FBI for firearm background checks.





Currently, your medical information (including some mental health information) is protected by HIPAA. No one, not even the government, can legally access your private medical records. Yet, with the stroke of a pen, President Obama has unilaterally struck down parts of this important privacy law.





HIPAA couldn't be any clearer. It prohibits anyone, other than you and your doctor, from accessing your “individually identifiable health information." Among other things, this information includes an individual’s "past, present or future physical or mental health or conditions."





The new gun control executive order, announced Friday by Vice President Joe Biden, ensures that states can submit to the FBI background check system the "limited information necessary to help keep guns out of potentially dangerous hands" without fear of violating HIPAA restrictions.





This is yet another example of President Obama completely breaking the law to push through his own agenda. With this move, Obama has said that even though your medical information is supposed to be protected by law, his administration will allow states to break the law without consequence. This is all in the interest of “public safety.”





HIPAA is one of the most important laws on the books to protect citizens' identities and medical histories. Yet, with just a signature, Obama will make your private medical and mental health information available to the Federal Government!





Tell Congress to STOP Obama's illegal gun control executive orders!





The administration has promised that it will not abuse this new exemption. If you want to see government restraint in action, feel free to read into what the NSA has been doing to illegally monitor American citizens. This is another one of those "common sense" gun control measures we keep hearing about... You can rest assured that the government only wants access to your private medical records so that it can violate your constitutional right. No big deal… <sarcasm>


 

It’s absolutely illegal for Obama to unilaterally violate HIPAA regulations, and when coupled with a new gun control push, this represents the most unconstitutional executive order in Obama's Presidency! What is supposed to remain private between you and your doctor can now be made available to government officials eager to violate your rights!





You'd probably think it couldn't get worse... But it actually does.





Biden announced another executive order which will redefine what constitutes a disqualifier for purchasing a firearm. The second executive order clarifies that people who are involuntarily committed to a mental institution -- either inpatient or outpatient -- will now count under the law as "committed to a mental institution." Without a doubt, this is a clarification that probably should have been written into the law when Congress originally passed it. According to the Obama administration, this new clarification will tell states what information to give to the background check system, as well as redefine who will be barred from owning firearms.





As “common sense” as this may seem, this is exactly the kind of executive order that we have always feared. Gun control always starts out with the Democrats saying that they only want felons and the mentally ill to be barred from owning guns. Once the gun control is passed, the Democrats then start to expand the law, using their power to pass new laws to make law abiding citizens instant felons.





With this order, President Obama has claimed the authority to determine who is allowed to own a gun and who is prohibited. It doesn't matter whether this clarification is "common sense,” the President simply doesn't have the authority to dictate who loses Constitutional rights. This is the most dangerous precedent of Obama’s presidency and one of the most threatening expansions of Executive power in history.





This is why the Founders included "shall not be infringed" in the Second Amendment. They knew a day would come when a tyrannical leader would try to dictate who is and who isn’t allowed to own weapons. I regret to inform you that the day the Founders feared has finally arrived.





We cannot allow President Obama, or anyone for that matter, to pick and choose who is afforded constitutional rights!

Tell Congress to STOP Obama's illegal gun control executive orders!





Over the last year we've seen an evolution of how the gun grabbers have tried to violate our Second Amendment rights. When the gun control advocates couldn't convince Congress to violate Americans' constitutional rights, Obama volunteered to finish the job.





Not only has Obama once again instructed people to disregard a Federal law, in this case HIPAA, but he has also claimed the authority to dictate who is permitted to exercise their God-given, natural right to keep and bear arms.

This is how tyranny always starts. At first, Obama will assert this authority for “common sense” public safety measures. But these precedents are extremely dangerous.

Once it is acceptable for the government to access you medical records for one reason, it will snowball until every one of your privacy rights are abolished. And if we allow this President to define who is disqualified from owning a firearm, there is nothing to stop Obama, or some future President, from expanding the definition to disqualify all law-abiding citizens from owning firearms.

The writing is on the wall. If left unchecked, these new executive orders will give the Executive Branch the authority to infringe on our constitutional rights at any time!

You must fax the entirety of Congress to force them to stop King Obama from violating his oath of office to push more illegal gun control on the American people!

This isn’t a joke, and it isn’t an exaggeration. This is exactly why the Founders explicitly wrote that the right to keep and bear arms “shall not be infringed.”

But, the Founding Fathers can’t stop King Obama. Only you can!

The Second Amendment, and the entire Bill of Rights for that matter, is in danger. We have been given the responsibility to protect our Constitutional rights for future generations, and we all must answer the call now.
