We have been sounding the alarm that Barack Obama would use his final days in office to bring as many illegal aliens and refugees into the country as possible. Many people have said that they don’t believe us.
The Obama administration just shut down the Border Patrol program known as Operation Phalanx. This aerial surveillance program used mainly helicopters, but also planes and drones to patrol border territory.
The program is credited with leading to the apprehension of over 110,000 illegal aliens. By all measures, it was one of the most successful border security strategies we had. Last year, Congress completely funded Operation Phalanx. There is still money to run the program.
But the Obama administration instead decided to mothball it. Instead of using the money that Congress appropriated for border security, they have ended the entire aerial surveillance program… Now illegal aliens, human traffickers, and drug mules are pouring across the border unimpeded.
This is Obama’s final play…
In the Tucson sector of the border alone, Operation Phalanx was responsible for helping Border Patrol capture 217,000 pounds of marijuana.
CBP Commissioner Gil Kerlikowske stated in a mid-November letter that Operation Phalanx “provided tangible benefits to border security.” Just two days later, the Department of Homeland Security announced that it was grounding the flights.
This is a deliberate attempt to let illegal aliens into the country.
Honestly, how else can you describe this? I am all for giving people the benefit of the doubt, but come on…
When you have a Border Patrol program that is fully funded through the end of the year and is capturing scores of illegal immigrants and literally tons of drugs, why else would anyone shut it down?
There is literally no other way to describe the President’s actions. He has forced a highly successful border patrol program to shut down – at the height of a border surge – and now illegal aliens and contraband are pouring in. Barack Obama and his administration did this.
Now, it is up to us to stop it.
What we do now will have very real consequences.
Operation Phalanx is fully staffed and fully funded. All we are missing now is a Congress willing to use every tool at its disposal to force the President to enforce our border.
We have covered the consequences of open borders in depth. We have covered the tragic cases of Kate Steinle and Sarah Root. There is no need for any more Americans to suffer because of Barack Obama’s commitment to political correctness.
If we can force Congress to re-open this program, then we can stop Obama’s last-ditch, open border coup in its tracks!
