George Washington said, “Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.”
The devastation after September 11, 2001, has stretched much farther than the pain of lost lives during this generation. We have also been steadily losing our freedoms. Free speech is under attack, no matter what political views you have. However, conservatives have suffered the most recently, under the Barack Obama administration.
Even before that, with a Republican in the White House, the Department of Homeland Security began its intrusion and the liberal mainstream media has never allowed a conservative voice to go unattacked.
Now, with the information released by Edward Snowden and the scandal at the IRS, all Americans should be concerned that our voices are being silenced.
Congress can stop this, if they want to. Secret spying is not okay—and neither is the suppression of political expression in the United States. It is beginning to look like a large, underground movement (a large portion of which is directly or indirectly funded by George Soros) has been building for years and is being used to take away our right to speak freely and honestly.
This is an issue that everyone should be rallying around. Even loudmouths like Piers Morgan and Rachel Maddow, who sneer so indignantly at everything a conservative says, should be concerned that they will be the next targets of those who want to silence dissenting opinion.
And, if for nothing else, you would think they want to keep their jobs. If everyone is forced to agree with them, what in the world will they find to talk about?

Conservatives have long been forced and shamed into silence, and not just with this administration. The mainstream media and Hollywood talking pieces have long tried to call us names and ridicule us if we dare speak on what they consider to be the “wrong” side of an issue.
Now, our words are being used to influence political campaigns and shape the future of this nation. It is inexcusable, and those we elected need to stand for honesty, transparency, integrity and freedom across the land.
This is not an issue that can dominate the headlines for a few weeks and then just disappear. We do not wish to serve at the feet of the current fearful master. Bring justice to America.
Surely, if you open your mouth, and they will attempt to destroy you; yet if you keep it closed, they will destroy America.
Sincerely,
Joe Otto
