SENATORS JOIN FILIBUSTER
Two United States Senators have signed up to assist Senators Ron Paul (R-KY), Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Mike Lee (R-UT) in their proposed FILIBUSTER against the freedoms that will be taken away with the gun control legislation that is before Congress.
Our Second Amendment rights are in dire jeopardy, so these now FIVE U.S. Senators have agreed (and notified Sen. Reid) to participate in the upcoming filibuster.
U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) and U.S. Senator James Inhofe (R-OK) have just now signed on to keep this anti-gun control fight into a continuing filibuster. Other U.S. Senators are on the “fence” trying to decide if this filibuster will do any good. And it will!
Of course a filibuster is a way for Congress to actually postpone, prevent or DELAY a vote on a legislative bill by speaking for as long as they want on any topic they choose; UNLESS 60 Senators bring debate to a close via a motion.
The United States Senate is expected to debate a gun-violence bill after it returns from Easter recess April 8. We want to have thousands of faxes from patriotic Americans already on their desk when they return, not only in support of a filibuster but also much more importantly, for the Constitutionally guaranteed rights in the Second Amendment!
Senator Harry Reid is combining some pieces of proposed gun control legislation into various, supposed “passable” pieces of legislation. He has already axed Dianne Feinstein’s “assault weapons ban” piece of legislation where he realizes he does not have enough votes to pass.
The Senate Judiciary Committee has several proposals on the table; to include many Democratically controlled measures, like:
· Tougher federal laws on gun trafficking
· School-safety grant programs
· Expansion of the nation’s gun background check program
In early March, U.S. Senator Rand Paul led a 13-hour filibuster on the CIA’s drone policy, forcing the U.S. Senate to delay the confirmation of John Brennan to lead the CIA. Even though Paul was opposed even by some “old-guard” Republicans, the filibuster did evoke an “answer” from the Obama administration in reference to the drone policy; a key WIN for U.S. Senator Rand Paul.
Now with so much at stake, Rand Paul is determined to “do it again!” But now, he has the backing of some very, very powerful United States Senators, like Rubio and Inhofe.
A Tea Party favorite, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio stated: “We should look for ways to keep firearms out of the hands of criminals and the mentally ill prone to misusing them, but I oppose legislation that will be used as a vehicle to impose new Second Amendment restrictions on responsible, law-abiding gun owners.”
Both U.S. Senator Inhofe and Senator Rubio have signed on to a letter written by Senators Paul, Cruz and Lee, sent to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) last week where they vow to “oppose any legislation that would infringe on the American people’s constitutional right to bear arms, or on their ability to exercise this right without being subjected to government surveillance.”
This past week, President Obama urged congressional lawmakers to pass stricter gun laws. He spoke: “Less than 100 days ago what happened, (Sandy Hook School in Newtown, Connecticut shootings) and the entire country was shocked. The entire country pledged we would do something about it and that this time it would be different shame on us if we have forgotten. I haven’t forgotten those kids. Shame on us if we’ve forgotten.”
It is obvious that President Obama, surrounded by children and parents from Newtown, has politicized this murderous attack by a madman! If the preservation of my freedoms requires a filibuster, so be it! Senators must join it with a passion to uphold our United States Constitution.

Relaying some of the same sentiments that we share, as well as these patriotic senators, U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) issued this statement: “It is saddening to see the president today, once again, try to take advantage of this tragic murder to promote an agenda that will do anything to stop violent crime, but will undermine the constitutional rights of all law-abiding Americans. I will use any procedural means necessary to protect those fundamental rights!”
Legislation to take away our Second Amendment rights is now before the United States Senate. We must do all we possibly can to DEFEAT this legislation.
Please fax every Congressman today. Even our elected United States Representatives are working colleagues with our U.S. Senators. They pull a lot of weight with the senators. They can capture the ear of senators, even more than paid lobbyists!
That’s why your fax is very critical in this hour when our gun freedoms are in a very pivotal time.
Please fax today.
Sincerely,
