Dear Conservative,

It is Labor Day Weekend, the ceremonial end of the summer.  It is one last chance for Americans to barbeque and celebrate before the kids go back to school and the summer comes to a close.

But while you are celebrating with family and friends, I want you to remember something…

Exactly five months ago, Mexican police arrested Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi after he accidentally made a wrong turn into Mexico. It seems like just yesterday that we learned of this injustice. But in fact, it has been more than 150 days!

I would call this soldier a hero, but that would be redundant.

Every soldier who is honorably discharged is a hero as far as I am concerned and I refuse to just sit back and celebrate while an American hero remains shackled in a foreign country!

As you might recall, Andrew Tahmooressi was arrested after he accidentally drove into Mexico while in possession of his otherwise legal firearms.

Sgt. Tahmooressi was in possession of these guns because he was in the process of moving. All of his possessions were in his car. After spending the day in Mexico, Sgt. Tahmooressi returned across the footbridge back into the United States and drove his car out of the commuter parking lot where he had left it.

Anyone who has visited the Mexican border knows how incredibly confusing the highway system there can be. Sgt. Tahmooressi claims that he drove out of the commuter parking lot and accidentally drove into Mexico with his firearms.

No one is denying that Andrew Tahmooressi broke Mexican law when he brought his guns into the country. But there is a difference between accidentally crossing the border and deliberately smuggling guns into the country!

It has been more than 150 days since Sgt. Tahmooressi was imprisoned! Only you can DEMAND that Congress and the Mexican government release him immediately!

The entire process by which Tahmooressi was arrested is suspect. The Marine Sergeant’s civil rights were violated when he was denied a translator upon arrest. Without this translator, Andrew had no idea what he was being charged with.

The arresting officer allegedly used a pre-signed search warrant. This means that a judge signed an entire stack of warrants so that Mexican officials could fill in the details of the warrant at a later date when they were needed. This is so corrupt it is not even funny!

To top it all off, Andrew Tahmooressi has been beaten, stripped naked and chained to his bed, and almost assassinated while in Mexican custody.

I understand that it is Labor Day weekend. I understand that this is a time for you to put your feet up and enjoy the last few days of summer.

I don’t know about you, but I can’t celebrate knowing that an American hero remains in prison abroad. I can’t enjoy myself knowing that Congress and this President have essentially abandoned him!

This man has been imprisoned for more than 150 DAYS and our government has done nothing about it!

Despite presenting the evidence of his mistreatment and the clear violations of his civil rights, the Mexican judicial system has refused to release him. They have refused to show him leniency.

I can’t celebrate knowing that this man is languishing in a Mexican prison. I just can’t...

He deserves to be home! He deserves to be celebrating with his friends and family, just like the rest of us!

I’m not done fighting for this hero and I hope you aren’t either!

The plan is simple. I want you to send this email to all your friends and family. It is important to remind as many people as possible that this Labor Day marks the 153rd day that Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi has languished in a Mexican prison! The only way to get this hero home is to make sure that his plight remains a front-page story!

Then, after you’re done forwarding this email, I need to ask you to make a slight sacrifice.

I’m asking you to please Fax Congress and every single Mexican consulate to demand that they wake up and work to get this American hero freed and returned home!

For every fax sent to Congress demanding the release of Sgt. Tahmooressi, we will also be sending a fax to the Mexican embassy on your behalf! And if you send a fax to the entirety of Congress, then we will also send your fax to all FIFTY Mexican Consulates in the United States!

We know that when we hammer Congress with thousands of faxes sharing a single message, we can generate real results. We often get calls from Congressmen complaining about how annoying it is to have hundreds of faxes coming through their system daily. That’s a good thing!

We know how crippling it can be to send tens of thousands of faxes to Congress that effectively shut down their system, forcing them to read every fax! We need to also make sure that EVERY Mexican consulate hears from We the People as well!

The Mexican General Consul in San Francisco has gone on record saying that Sgt. Tahmooressi will be released “sooner or later.” With your help, we can make it sooner rather than later!

It’s Labor Day Weekend, and it is important to take the time to celebrate the end of the summer with friends and family.

I just hope that Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi can have that luxury as well…

Together, we will create enough noise so that Sgt. Tahmooressi’s plight can no longer be ignored!

It has been more than 150 days since Sgt. Tahmooressi was imprisoned! Tell Congress that it MUST bring Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi home and Fax Blast Mexico’s consulates demanding his release!

Sincerely,

Joe Otto
