Breaking News: Because of the death of President George H.W. Bush and the ceremonies taking place this week, Paul Ryan is claiming that Congress doesn't have time to approve the border wall funding by the December 7 deadline. He is demanding that Trump sign a funding bill that doesn't include border wall funding.
Yesterday, I warned you that the GOP leadership was going to start claiming they don't have enough time to fund the border wall.
Sure enough, that is exactly what is happening. Both Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell have phoned the President and informed him that they need "more time" to get the funding approved. Why? Their schedules have been upended by the death of President George H.W. Bush. The former President will lie in state at the Capitol Building from Monday to Wednesday this week, and the GOP claims that means they won't have time to approve the border wall funding in time.
They are demanding the President give them two more weeks to get it done. President Trump has reportedly agreed.
This means that there is no room whatsoever for errors. If this extension deal goes through, the new deadline for border wall funding would be December 21. That is just 12 days before Democrats take over the House.
Paul Ryan has kicked the can down the road yet again. His open border victory is in sight. If he can stop the border wall from being funded one last time, it will be impossible for the President to get the funding!
We have other news from the border yesterday. Unless you live in Washington State, the name Pramila Jayapal probably doesn't mean a whole lot. But after reading this, it will. Congresswoman Jayapal went down to the border yesterday to join the caravan's march against the southern border. That's right, a sitting Congresswoman tried to take part in an invasion of the United States.
When the large scale march didn't materialize as predicted, Congresswoman Jayapal grabbed five migrants and decided to force Border Patrol to let them into the country. This Congresswoman helped 5 of the caravan migrants skip the line and get into the United States, using loopholes to get them released with nothing but a notice to appear for their court hearing.
"initially they were denied, in violation of U.S. and international law," Rep. Jayapal wrote on Twitter, "but I was able to intervene and ensure that they could simply present themselves for asylum in the United States."
She says that she went to the border to help the caravan after watching the videos of the Trump administration using tear gas to push back the mobs and she is promising to keep helping the caravan migrants game the system to get into the United States anyway.
Want to know why Congress isn't securing the border? People like Rep. Jayapal are too busy working to make it easier for illegal aliens to break into this country!
But not all Congressmen and Senators are physically carrying illegal aliens across the border. Others, like Paul Ryan, are just trying to preserve the status quo. In 2006, Congress passed the Secure Fence Act, a bill that mandated fencing along the entire US-Mexico border. It was so popular, that even then-Senators Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, and Barack Obama voted for it. However, months after the bill passed, Nancy Pelosi took over the House and immediately blocked the fence from being funded.
Illegal aliens like Hector Rodriguez-Chavez are able to cross the border armed to the teeth because Democrats made it their mission in 2007 to stop the fence from being built.
President Trump is demanding that Congress fully fund the border wall. In just 31 days, Nancy Pelosi will again take over control of the House and she is promising to once again block border security funding from ever reaching the President's desk.
Time is literally running out and once again, Spineless Republicans are caving and surrendering to the Left's open border plans.
History is repeating itself...
If Congress does not approve the border wall funding this month, then it will not get approved until after the Democrats take over. Paul Ryan is so spiteful on his way out the door that he told President Trump that he'll have better luck negotiating with Nancy Pelosi over the border wall...
Right now, US law explicitly outlaws border wall construction. President Trump has moved funding around so that he could upgrade and expand existing fencing, but even if he found the funding, it is against the law for the administration to move forward with any of the impenetrable border wall designs that were tested in San Diego this year...
Just so we're clear: we know the areas of the border that need to be secured... we have the designs that would make the border impenetrable... and we have a President willing to move mountains to get it done. But Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell, and the rest of the GOP establishment are blocking the project from moving forward.
The GOP leadership is trying a last ditch effort to get President Trump to 'give them more time.' They are asking for a two week delay because of the passing of President George H.W. Bush. President Trump has agreed to give it to them. The stake just got even higher.
If Paul Ryan succeeds in blocking the funding again, it will be impossible to get it approved before Pelosi takes over...
Last chance,
Joe Otto
