This is not a drill: Mitch McConnell just scheduled a vote on the Homeland Security spending bill without approving Pres. Trump's border wall funding!
Last month, we scored a major victory. The House Appropriations Committee approved five billion for border wall construction in their version of the Homeland Security Appropriations Bill.
President Trump applauded House Conservatives for doing the right thing. Those funds would allow the Trump administration to construct upwards of 800 miles of new border wall along the southern border. Not those waist-high fences that even school children can hop over, mind you... We're talking about thirty-foot-tall steel reinforced concrete walls.
Republicans in the Senate saw what the House was doing and frantically passed their version of the Homeland Security spending bill. The only problem? The Senate version refuses to fund any new border wall construction. Their bill would allow some funding to go towards border fence expansion and upgrades, but none for President Trump's border wall prototypes.
President Trump threatened to shutdown the government if the border wall remains unfunded and Mitch McConnell just spit in his face. McConnell claimed to support the wall funding, but scheduled this vote anyway in secret.
Want to know what's worse? Paul Ryan is now using McConnell's defiance as an excuse to strip the border wall funding out of the House version as well.
The Senate is rushing to pass their version of the bill. McConnell wants to try to call Pres. Trump's bluff and force him to accept open borders.
You CANNOT let this happen!
McConnell's reasoning is that the "timing isn't right" for border security. He wants the President to wait until after the midterms. He wants you to vote to re-elect the Republicans and then, once you lose all of your electoral leverage, "trust" that they will approve the wall funding.
The truth is that McConnell and Ryan want to give Democrats a chance to re-take Congress and block the wall permanently.
These people cannot be trusted. Both of these men promised their donors that they would resist Trump and the conservative border security agenda. Now, they're making good on this promise.
They know that it is now or never for the border wall. If the project is not funded in this round of spending bills, it will not happen in President Trump's first term. If Democrats re-take Congress or the White House, the border will remain unsecured permanently.
They've kicked the can down the road for the last year and a half. McConnell and Ryan know that if they can delay a border wall vote just a couple more days, they can potentially block the project from ever moving forward. It's absolutely shameful.
We just learned that the Senate is planning to vote on the Homeland Security spending bill this week. If it passes, Paul Ryan will rush his surrender bill through immediately.
You can't put this fight off any longer. It has now reached your doorstep.

The GOP leadership tried to sneak this through without you finding out about it.
But now you know and with that knowledge comes a responsibility to act. We can stop this, but we have to fight back now.
Our message to Congress is simple: any Congressman or Senator who blocks the border wall funding, or allows the appropriations bill to pass without funding the wall, will be removed from office.
President Trump is pushing back with everything he's got, but he needs your help to finish this!
