More Republicans are joining the fight to stop the steal!
Yesterday, Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-FL) (shown above) announced that he will join the formal challenge to the Electoral College results.
"I’m not going back to yesterday’s Republican Party. I’m not going back to losing politely with Mitt Romney, or the Bush’s," Gaetz proclaimed.
He explained that he will formally join the objection to the Electoral College results and work with Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) to stop the steal.
Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) has also announced that he will join the objection as well. A few days ago, there were 19 Republicans on board. Today, that number has doubled!
Now that Senator-Elect Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) has joined as a Senate co-sponsor, the floodgates have started opening up. With upwards of 40 Republicans now saying they will support the challenge, we are also hearing more from the Senate side as well...
Republican Senators are starting to cave to our demands too. Mitch McConnell has been threatening his caucus to scare them out of signing onto Rep. Books' challenge. But now that Tuberville has busted through the roadblock, other Senators can sign on without being blamed for being the first.
Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Josh Hawley (R-MO) have both signalled that they will probably sign on. Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AK) is also "likely" to join the challenge.
Ultimately, all it takes for the challenge to be heard is for one Congressman and one Senator to both co-sponsor it.
We now know that will happen. The challenge will be filed and there will be sufficient co-sponsors to force a floor debate.
Each objection will receive two hours (minimum) of floor debate. Since there are 6 states, if six objections are filed, then that would allow for 12 hours of floor debate.
But here is where it can get really interesting. The objection does not have to be for the entire state. The objection can focus on each individual Electoral College elector. Back in 1969, a challenge was filed against one single Elector from North Carolina who changed their vote. Since Nevada, Arizona, Wisconsin, Michigan, Georgia, and Pennsylvania have a combined total of 79 Electoral College votes, Congress can technically force a whopping 158 hours of debate, giving the Trump campaign ample time to present their case highlighting fraud.
While it is unlikely that 79 individual objections will be filed, Republicans will have the power to force as much debate as they want.
That is why Rep. Mo Brooks is pushing for full hearings to take place all of next week. Instead of forcing dozens of objections, it would be much easier to simply allow the case to be made in open, public hearings!
A week ago, all of the "experts" said that an Electoral College objection would be impossible. Mitch McConnell was threatening Republicans and they were all too cowardly to officially sign on. It looked like it was finished.
But today, we have close to 40 House Republicans signed on and between 1 and 4 GOP Senators willing to dive in as well.
Now, those same "experts" are saying that even if there is an objection, it will be impossible to win the fight.
We can prove them wrong again, but only if we work together!
Keep fighting!
