This has been a long time coming. Both Senator Ted Cruz and Congressman Louie Gohmert have joined forces to defund the United Nations.
Barack Obama’s flagrant weaponization of the UN against our ally, Israel, was just the icing on the cake.
For far too long, the UN has used American taxpayer money to take action against the American people and our interests. It has served as a mechanism for liberals to bypass Congress and the Constitution to impose their agenda on the country and the world.
Right now, we are closer than ever before to shutting it down!
What has the UN done that is so horrible, you ask? Well, how much time do you have?
With Obama’s help, the UN Arms Trade Treaty has gone into force, limiting how Americans can import firearms and ammunition and putting the United States one ratification vote away from a nationwide gun registry.
This fall, the President used the UN to edit the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty to change American nuclear policy without even consulting Congress.
More than $500 million of YOUR tax dollars have been sent to the UN to finance their climate change programs. When Obama has tried to implement the UN’s agenda by executive order, the Supreme Court has slapped the actions down as unconstitutional.
Instead of fully vetting refugees, Obama has outsourced most of the background check process to the United Nations in order to bring Middle Eastern refugees here faster. The terrorist who went on a stabbing spree at Ohio State University was “vetted” by the UN.
Obama has also used the UN to reclassify illegal immigrants as “refugees” in order to resettle them in the United States.
Then, in a tremendous show of arrogance, Barack Obama and John Kerry pushed an anti-Israel resolution through the UN just weeks before they are set to leave office.
Tack on the tremendous waste of taxpayer money and the problem is clear. But the solution is even clearer: cut off the funding.
This list is still growing, by the way. Just five days before Trump’s inauguration, the French have planned a major announcement alongside the Palestinian Authority. Word is that they are going to announce a resolution to formally recognize Palestine as a country and then try to ram it through the UN Security Council just hours before Trump is sworn in.
We don’t have time to wait on this. You need to force Congress to vote on these defunding measures NOW!
For decades, the thought of defunding the United Nations was seen as a “fringe” proposal. It was something we all wanted, but our elected officials seldom brought it up.
Times have changed.
Remember when Sen. Lindsey Graham “joked” that if he killed Ted Cruz on the Senate floor, and the trial was held in the Senate, he couldn’t be convicted?
Well, the issue of defunding the UN has actually brought both Graham and Cruz together. They are working hand-in-hand to craft the Senate bill to defund the United Nations.
Even leftist Democrats like Sen. Chuck Schumer are outraged over Obama’s attack on Israel.
When I tell you that the votes are there for passage, I mean it. I would even venture to say that we’re getting close to the necessary vote totals to override a Presidential veto. That is how many Democrats are irked over Obama’s parting shot at the UN.
Here’s the problem: None of this matters if Obama is able to continue implementing his plan. None of this matters if the UN is able to push through more leftist agenda items prior to Trump taking office.
