Today is the March for Life, a pro-life protest in Washington DC protesting against abortion on the 49th anniversary of Roe v. Wade.
The goal of the March for Life is simple: save unborn children from the scourge of abortion.
We have made huge progress over the past year. Texas passed a bill into law outlawing abortions after the 6th week of pregnancy. Before the ban, it was estimated that as many as 132 abortions were performed after the 6th week in Texas every single day. This law has been on the books for 247 days. That means that this one law alone has already saved as many as 32,600 babies. Abortionists tried to get the law blocked again yesterday and the Supreme Court shut them down for the third time.
We are winning this fight. More Americans than ever before want strict restrictions on abortions. A new poll from Marist shows that 76% of Americans want abortion to be heavily restricted (either banned outright, kept legal with only strict exceptions, or restricted to the first few months of pregnancy). A whopping 55% of so-called "pro-choice" Americans want strict restrictions.
But Democrats are trying to ram through legislation that would do the exact opposite!
Next month, Congress must once again pass a government spending package in order to avert a government shutdown. Democrats have spent the past few months kicking the can down the road, but they have decided to take a stand. They are demanding that the next spending package include Federal government funding for elective abortion procedures.
If this passes, American taxpayers would literally be forced to fund (through their taxes) abortion procedures around the country.
Every year since 1976, Congress has passed the Hyde Amendment into law. This amendment outlawed the Federal funding of elective abortion procedures. Members of both parties have always agreed that because the issue of abortion is so divisive, American taxpayers should not be forced to pay for it.
This past year, however, the Democrats radically changed their stance. They abandoned their support for the Hyde Amendment. 2021 marked the first time in a half century when a sitting President (Biden) actually advocated for the Hyde Amendment to be repealed.
Democrats failed to get their Hyde Amendment repeal passed into law this past year. But this time, they believe they will have the votes to do it...
The Left doesn't just want to keep abortion legal. They want YOU to pay for the procedures!
Today, on the 49th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, I am calling on you to take a stand!
Stand up and STOP Democrats and Republicans from legalizing Federally-funded abortion procedures!
