Dear Legislator,
According to the Washington Post, the US plans to end its coronavirus national emergencies on May 11. President Biden announced the move yesterday, after these emergencies have been in place since March 2020. It’s unclear why we have to delay until May, so of course I am skeptical that this will actually happen.
These emergencies were unconstitutional since their inception, and you need to make sure this never happens again.
According to the CDC, the pre pandemic "overall burden of influenza (flu) for the 2018-2019 season was an estimated 29 million flu illnesses,13 million flu-related medical visits, 380,000 flu-related hospitalizations, and 28,000 flu deaths." This is tracking about a six-month flu season, from October to April.
"In the United States, flu season usually occurs in the fall and winter. While influenza viruses spread year-round, most of the time flu activity peaks between December and February. The overall health impact (e.g., infections, hospitalizations, and deaths) of flu varies from season to season."
As many doctors and scientists said at the beginning of the pandemic, Covid-19 is like a bad flu, depending on the variant. We do not need to upend our lives and forfeit our natural rights for the flu-like Covid. We won’t do it again.
DEMAND: As these emergency orders come to an end, you must pass legislation to ensure the government can never again hysterically destroy the nation based on faulty scientific models and fear mongering. You must ensure the government never again yields its authority and oversight to NGO globalists with an anti-American agenda.
It remains to be seen if the government has learned anything constructive from the Covid pandemic. The American people have exercised great restraint amid unprecedented government overreach. Remember your oath.
