This week, Democrats suffered a stunning defeat.

H.R. 1 - a bill designed to revoke state-level election integrity laws - failed in a procedural vote in the Senate. While all 50 Democrats voted for it, the vote did not receive enough Republican votes for cloture.

The founders designed the process like this for a reason. They knew that no single party should be able to ram legislation through with just a simple majority. When designing the American government, the Founders looked to Ancient Greece as a potential model but realized that it is fundamentally unjust to allow 51% of the population complete control over the other 49%. That is why we are a Constitutional Republic and not a Democracy and that is why the cloture rule in the Senate requires 60 votes.

H.R. 1 failed in the Senate because the American people don't want it. The legislation would have abolished state-level Voter ID laws, abolish voter registration deadlines, legalize ballot harvesting, require 100% vote-by-mail elections whenever there is an infectious disease or natural disaster (a given since election day falls inside both influenza and hurricane seasons), and allow states to count ballots that get delivered after the polls close.

This was a bill designed specifically to help one party "win" elections by eliminating state-level election integrity and security laws. It died because the majority of Americans do not want this. In fact, a new Rasmussen poll shows that 55% of likely voters support forensic election audits to verify that election results are legitimate. The American people want you to make elections more secure, not less...

Many of your colleagues, though, realize their political future hinges on making it easier to steal elections. They are now demanding an end to the filibuster so that this radical bill, and others, can be pushed through on just a party-line vote.

This is precisely the "party-over-country" thinking that the Founders feared and exactly the reason the filibuster exists.

In the coming days, Chuck Schumer will move to abolish the filibuster. You must do everything in your power to stop him.

Schumer and Pelosi will also be fast-tracking radical pieces of legislation. These are not bills designed to bring the country together, they would only serve to drive the country further apart. In addition to fighting to preserve the filibuster, you must do everything in your power to kill these bills as well.

Please heed this warning: Anyone who attempts to change the rules to preserve their own power will be dragged out of office. Do not become one of them...
