Shameful. Absolutely shameful.

Last week, we witnessed the biggest campaign finance violation in American history as both Facebook and Twitter provided a massive in-kind donation to the Joe Biden campaign by blocking or throttling users who shared the New York Post's bombshell story.

Ted Cruz promised a vote would take place today to subpoena executives from both companies not only to answer for what they did, but to explain why they lied previously about not allowing political bias to influence their censorship policies.

It is no longer hypothetical. We know that one of the Facebook executives behind the decision to "reduce distribution" was a woman named Anna Makanju. Before she became a Public Policy Executive at Facebook, Makanju was a special policy adviser for Europe and Eurasia to former US Vice President Joe Biden. In other words, she suppressed the Hunter Biden-Ukraine story because she was the one advising Biden on Ukrainian matters when he was Vice President... No wonder she doesn't want the truth to get out.

We also saw Facebook Communications Policy Director Andy Stone announce that not only was Facebook "reducing distribution" for NY Post stories, but that he was also actively encouraging "fact checkers" to take a look at the claim. This is a big deal. Up until now, Facebook has claimed that fact checkers were independent and that Facebook simply followed their recommendation when deciding whether or not to censor content.

Facebook put the cart before the horse. They throttled the story for being damaging to the Biden Campaign and then encouraged the fact checkers to legitimize their decision to do so.

We now know that Facebook and Twitter, combined, have censored hundreds of millions of political posts this year alone. Forget about Russian trolls. This is the greatest threat to our Republic.

So you can imagine my shock to find out that today's subpoena vote was cancelled. Even in the best case scenario that subpoenas are authorized on Thursday, Facebook and Twitter will undoubtedly demand more time to prepare and by that time, it will be too late to stop them.

The future of our Republic will depend on what you do right now. Will you allow Silicon Valley to keep putting their finger on the scale and swaying our elections? Or will you stand up to them and force them to answer for their crimes?

Make no mistake: any Congressman or Senator, Republican or Democrat, who blocks, delays, or stalls these subpoena votes will be removed from office. That is a threat.
