You have a duty to ensure that Federal law protects and defends the vulnerable. That is your job. Whenever holes are discovered in the statutes or criminals find ways around the law, it is up to you to pass legislation to fix it. And when powerful entities brazenly violate that law, you have an obligation not only to hold them accountable, but also to refer them to the US Attorney for the District of Columbia for prosecution.

Some of the most important Federal laws on the books are the ones that protect innocent children from exploitation and sexualization. As you know, it is a crime to possess or distribute "child pornography." However, the law, as written, does not require that child pornography contain nudity. It prohibits any 'lascivious exhibition' of a child’s private parts.

This month, Netflix released a foreign film called "Cuties." The film tells the story of French 11-year-olds joining a hip-hop dance troupe. It includes graphic scenes that absolutely meet the above definition of "child pornography" under US law.

Many in the media are circling the wagons, claiming that this film is protected "art" and tells a "coming of age story" for young girls. But you and I both know that Federal child exploitation laws are in place specifically to prevent this sort of material from being published and disseminated. The whole point of child pornography laws is to ensure that media is not allowed to depict pre-pubescent children "coming of age."

We have a problem with pedophilia in this country, and have had this problem for a long time. Now, it is time for you to decide where you stand on this issue, and there really are only two options: You either support children or you support the exploitation and sexualization of children. There is no middle ground here...

Senator Tom Cotton, along with Representatives Jim Banks and Tulsi Gabbard are pushing to get this "film" taken down and for the executives responsible for it to be referred to the DOJ for investigation and, if necessary, prosecution.

Amazingly, they are receiving pushback. There are powerful interests that want Cuties and other "films" depicting the sexualization and exploitation of children to stay on the internet. Right now, they are threatening some of your colleagues to try to force them to back down on this issue.

It is time for you to choose which side you are on. Do you stand with the children? Or with the depraved individuals looking to exploit and sexualize them?

I am demanding that you join Cotton, Banks, and Gabbard and fight to get Cuties taken down off the internet, and for the individuals responsible to be investigated and prosecuted.

If you will not stand up for children, then you have no business serving in any capacity...
