Since March, many of your colleagues have been scheming to use the pandemic as an excuse to push through wish-list agenda items they know would never pass as standalone bills. They have tried to use Americans' pain and suffering as leverage to force you to surrender to their demands.

At the top of their wishlist is a provision within their so-called "Heroes Act" which would mandate nationwide mail-in voting.

The bill's language seems harmless enough at first. On paper, it would require that all states make absentee ballots available for anyone who requests them, which is pretty much already the case. But Section 322(c)(3)(A) of the bill removes the optional part about mail in voting and would require that all states send out mail-in ballots to all registered voters whenever there is a federally declared emergency or disaster. All states would be required to send mail-in ballots to their entire voter roll for the November election.

This is a TERRIBLE idea. Not only do states not have the infrastructure to send out this many ballots, but the Postal Service is not designed to handle this many absentee ballots. And the fact that the legislation would require that ballots be sent out to every name on the rolls, as-is, it would guarantee that ballots are sent to incorrect addresses and to ineligible voters. In Virginia, they sent out 500,000 mail-in ballot applications that ended up going to incorrect names or addresses. Some even got addressed to people's pets. In Las Vegas, NV, at least 200,000 mail-in ballots were "undeliverable" during this year's primary.

If you force states to send out mail-in ballots, you are inviting fraud.

But Pelosi's bill gets worse. Section 322(a)(2)(A) makes it illegal for states to require voters to prove their identity before receiving a ballot. Section 322(a)(2)(B) would make it illegal for states to require that mail-in ballots include a notary's signature or a witness signature confirming the identity of the voter.

Section 322(f)(2)(A) would require that states abolish their restrictions on who is allowed to turn in an absentee ballot. It would literally require that states allow "any person" to turn in a ballot on a voter's behalf. And to open the door for paid political operatives to collect ballots, Section 322(f)(2)(B) would make it illegal for states to limit how many ballots a "ballot harvester" can turn in. If one person wants to dump thousands of ballots at a polling place, states would be forced to accept them.

If these provisions become law, fraudulent ballots will be cast and you will open the door for American elections to be stolen.

You should be fighting to protect the integrity of our elections, not tearing down their safeguards.

Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer are offering to "compromise," but they are still demanding these vote-by-mail provisions to be passed as is.

There is no such thing as a "compromise" that opens the door for the election to be tampered with and stolen.

You need to pass a clean coronavirus relief bill, not pork-filled legislation designed to sneak through radical proposals that would have no hope of passing as standalone bills. The American people deserve relief, not to be treated as leverage to check off items on a policy wish-list.

I need you to understand that if you support or vote for this vote-by-mail madness -- or sit on your hands and allow it to pass -- I will consider you to be in violation of your oath and will have no choice but to remove you from office.

That is a threat. But more importantly, it is a promise!
