For years, gun control advocates have said that there is no need for civilians to own firearms because the police are there to protect us. That has always been a lie. When seconds count, police are minutes away.

But now, many of your colleagues are changing their tune. They now want the police to be disarmed and defunded.

Does that mean that they think civilians should be allowed to own firearms? No, they want everyone disarmed. In a Leftist's ideal world, only criminals would own firearms...

We have learned over the past couple weeks just how important the 2nd Amendment is. We have watched as law abiding citizens have been forced to defend themselves and their neighborhoods from violent rioters after politicians issued stand down orders to local police departments. And yes, unfortunately we saw many people killed and beaten within an inch of their lives because they were caught unarmed by the violent mobs.

You should be supporting law enforcement and empowering law-abiding citizens to defend themselves, not scheming to dismantle their self-defense rights...

Yesterday, Nancy Pelosi and other Democrats announced a renewed push to pass a new gun control package. Not only are they demanding passage of H.R.8 to create a government record whenever someone buys, sells, or transfers a gun, but the newest addition to the package (Untraceable Firearms Act of 2020) would force Americans to receive government permission before building or repairing a firearm. And as if it couldn't get worse, their package includes H.R.1112, a bill to give the government power to reject millions of firearm purchasers every year simply by running out the clock on their background check form.

You need to kill all three of these bills, along with any other gun control bill your colleagues try to slip through.

Again, you should be supporting the rights of law abiding citizens to defend themselves. After all, that is the oath you swore when you arrived in Washington... Anyone who watched the violence that engulfed American cities and concludes that the best response is to disarm police officers and law abiding citizens is unfit to serve in any capacity.

If you cannot bring yourself to honor that basic oath, then you must be removed from office.

If you dare advance any of these gun control bills, I promise that you will be removed...
