A number of your colleagues are trying to use the coronavirus as an excuse to restructure American elections. At the top of their list of demands? Nationwide mail-in voting and ballot harvesting.

Data from the U.S. Election Assistance Commission and the Election Administration now show that in 2016 and 2018, at least 16.4 million mail-in ballots went missing. When you include the 2012 and 2014 elections, the number of missing ballots skyrockets to over 28 million...

These are ballots that were given to the Postal Service to deliver, but were never received by registered voters. That doesn't even include the number of ballots that were lost after voters tried to send them in...

It would be catastrophic to switch the country over to a mail-in voting system this year. You would guarantee that tens of millions of ballots would go uncounted...

But the most troubling aspect of this proposal is how the sponsors plan to solve the issues in the Postal Service. Instead of requiring ballots to be mailed, their bill will legalize ballot harvesting.

Typically if someone fills out an absentee ballot, they either need to turn it in themselves or give it to a family member or caregiver to do on their behalf. "Ballot harvesting" is the idea that complete strangers, and even paid political operatives, should be allowed to take possession of absentee ballots.

Organizations pay activists to go door to door and instead of simply advocating a candidate, they actually encourage the voter to fill out their ballot and then promise to turn it in on their behalf.

We are already seeing that ballot harvesting opens the door for fraud and abuse, not to mention the fact that if someone tried to coach someone on how to fill out their ballot inside a polling place, they would be arrested for voter intimidation.

Let me be absolutely clear: If you vote for this package, or any of these specific proposals, you will have sealed your fate. Any Congressman or Senator who votes for this will be removed from office.

Americans are suffering. Businesses are closing. You have a duty to serve the American people, not the Left's political ambitions. If you cannot bring yourself to do that, then you will be relieved of duty.
