The most heinous provisions within the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act have now expired. Government officials can no longer violate innocent Americans' rights by using a secretive surveillance court to spy on them.

I am demanding that you keep it that way!

Right now, there are multiple FBI and DOJ officials under criminal investigation for how they weaponized these same FISA provisions to target the Trump campaign. We now know that the entire Trump-Russia investigation was rooted in these illegal FISA abuses.

FBI agents have already been referred for prosecution and the FISA judges themselves have come out and banned these officials from ever arguing another case before their court again.

Every week, we learn more and more about how FBI agents deliberately abused their powers to weaponize FISA against their political opponents. It was just last week that we learned that the FBI agents who brought the case before the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court actually packed their evidence folders with blank filler sheets. Instead of presenting real evidence, they used blank pieces of paper as stand-ins to make it appear like their case was stronger than it actually was...

This all leads me to one simple question: How could you possibly vote to reauthorize a law when you don't even fully understand all of the ways that it has been violated? How can you possibly hope to amend the law to prevent abuse when you don't yet know all of the loopholes that these traitors used?

You and I both know that you cannot. Until U.S. Attorney John Durham releases a final report or unseals indictments against these perpetrators, there is no way to know whether the modest changes within the ridiculously-named USA Freedom Authorization Act could prevent these crimes from happening again.

And that is why you must kill this legislation and block it from becoming law by any means necessary. There will be plenty of time to discuss renewal once the full extent of the FBI's lawlessness is revealed. In the meantime, the bulk of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act will remain in effect. The FBI will continue to be able to secure surveillance warrants against foreign spies operating on US soil. They just won't be able to spy on innocent Americans...
