On Friday, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals overturned Pres. Trump's Remain in Mexico policy and ordered the administration to re-adopt Obama's catch-and-release strategy.

It only took hours for this to reach the migrants in Mexico. By Friday evening, hundreds of migrants had amassed at the US-Mexico border checkpoint in El Paso and started rushing the border. Luckily, the Trump administration was able to close the checkpoint to stop the migrants from pushing through. But it was a close call.

It has only been a couple of days since the ruling, but we are already seeing more and more illegal aliens trying to rush across the border. They know that if they get onto US soil, activist judges will let them stay in the US.

This never should have gotten this far. For six months, you have had the solution to the border crisis sitting right in front of you, but neither party wants to touch it. The Secure and Protect Act would FINALLY put a stop to the asylum fraud that has been plaguing our immigration system for decades.

The bill would do four primary things: It would (1) put an end to catch and release and allow the government to detain illegal aliens until their cases are heard in court (2) get rid of the asylum loopholes that illegal aliens and smugglers have used to game the system, (3) strengthen the asylum qualifications to eliminate fraud and protect bona fide asylum seekers, and (4) hire at least 500 new immigration judges expedite deportation proceedings and work through the case backlog.

This is common sense. The Secure and Protect Act respects the rights of legitimate asylum seekers by making sure that the frauds are not able to overload the system and force their way into the country.

So why haven't you put this bill onto President Trump's desk yet?

Enough is enough. You know that this is a threat to our national security. You can see that within hours of Trump's Remain in Mexico policy being overturned, migrants were again trying to rush border checkpoints.

It is time to put politics aside and pass the Secure and Protect Act.
