Now that impeachment is behind us, Republicans and Democrats are trying to figure out pieces of legislation that both parties can agree on. There is talk of an infrastructure bill as well as legislation to reduce prescription medications. But there is also a push to finally pass the Graham-Murphy gun confiscation bill into law.

You must stop this from happening!

This bill is flagrantly unconstitutional. It would allow the government to disarm law abiding Americans without even having to accuse them of breaking the law. Instead of being presumed innocent, disarmed gun owners would be presumed guilty under this proposed Red Flag law.

The 2nd Amendment includes the words "shall not be infringed" for a reason. The American people have a God-given right to keep and bear arms for self defense. The 2nd Amendment exists to prevent government from violating this basic human right.

Over the years, Congress has passed laws allowing the government to disarm the mentally ill and criminals in society. But in each of those cases, it is up to the government to prove -- beyond a reasonable doubt -- that someone is too dangerous to own a gun.

This new Extreme Risk Protection Order proposal, however, would extend those disarmament powers to target innocent American gun owners too. The government would have the power to disarm innocent people without even accusing them of doing something wrong. All they would need is hearsay from family members, neighbors, co-workers, or friends.

In states that already have these Red Flag laws, they are being abused. A Maryland man was shot and killed by police when a spiteful family member turned him in to have his guns confiscated. An innocent man in Florida just had his firearms confiscated because of mistaken identity. And a man in Colorado had his firearms re-confiscated under that State's Red Flag laws after prosecutors decided there was insufficient evidence to charge him with a crime.

There is nothing reasonable about any of this. This isn't a "compromise." Giving the government power to revoke innocent Americans' rights isn't a "compromise."

You cannot, under any circumstances, allow this bill to pass.

I want to make this absolutely clear: anyone who supports or votes for this unconstitutional legislation will be removed from office. That is not a threat... it is a promise.

You swore an oath to uphold and defend the right to keep and bear arms. Supporting this gun confiscation legislation in any way is a violation of that oath.

I don't care who you are. Oath breakers will be held accountable...
