National defense is never supposed to be politicized. Whatever disagreements we may have, Republicans and Democrats are supposed to put them aside and come together for the good of the country when we are attacked.

Last week, the Islamic Republic of Iran led an attack against our embassy in Baghdad. This was after Iran-backed militias killed an American on a military base just days prior.

After they broke into the embassy courtyard, the mob graffitied the embassy walls with the phrase "[Iranian General] Suleimani is our leader."

President Trump responded by authorizing an airstrike to kill Suleimani and has threatened the Iranian regime with the full power of the US military if they dare launch another attack against America.

You should be supporting the President. You should be putting politics aside for the good of the country.

But right now, your colleagues are fast-tracking a War Powers resolution that would deliberately tie the President's hands and make it harder for him to protect the country.

The resolution, being written by Rep. Ilhan Omar and other far Left Democrats, would force the President to seek the Democrats' permission before retaliating against Iranian attacks. If he was to authorize a military strike without Congressional approval, this resolution would brand him a "war criminal."
