As we start the new year, many of your colleagues are eager to pass new gun control. They believe that they need to chip away at the 2nd Amendment in order to save their political careers.

Republicans and Democrats are working together to pass the biggest gun confiscation bill in American history.

The Red Flag bill, also known as the Extreme Risk Protection Order and Violence Prevention Act, would give the government the power to disarm innocent Americans without even needing to accuse them of breaking the law.

I don't care what it takes: You must kill this bill.

Americans have a right to due process. If the government wants to confiscate someone's firearms, they have to accuse them of actually doing something wrong. The accused must have an opportunity to defend themselves and if the government fails to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt, then the gun owner is presumed innocent.

Red Flag bills flip this upside-down. Instead of having to prove that someone broke the law, Red Flag laws allow prosecutors to secure confiscation orders based on the preponderance of evidence standard. All they need to do is convince a judge that someone is more likely than not to break the law at some future point in time and the accused isn't even allowed to defend themselves in these hearings.

A number of states have implemented their own Red Flag bills. Every state that has these disarmament programs has seen them abused. An innocent man was shot and killed last year in Maryland after an angry family member told police he was dangerous. In Florida, an innocent man just lost his gun rights because he has the same name as an alleged criminal. We have seen cases where angry co-workers and estranged family members have fraudulently used Red Flag laws to "get even" with gun owners.

And now, your colleagues want to make this a nationwide law. The proposed bills would create a new class of prohibited person. The bill literally authorizes confiscation raids against innocent Americans and would use my tax dollars to help states and localities carry out the raids.

Don't you dare vote for any of these unconstitutional gun confiscation laws.

I know that people are telling you that this is the only way to hold onto your political power. They are urging you to surrender my rights in order to save your career.

You need to understand that a vote for any gun confiscation bill is tantamount to political suicide. If you vote to authorize this nationwide disarmament program, or do anything whatsoever to help it pass, you will be removed from office.

I don't really care who you are.

If you dare vote against my God-given rights to keep and bear arms, you will be held accountable!
