When Barack Obama signed the United Nations' Paris Climate Treaty, he violated the Constitution's Treaty Clause.

He never sought the advice or consent of the Congress.

But Barack Obama didn't care. He then began implementing and financing the treaty by executive order.

Donald Trump ran on a promise to withdraw from the agreement once and for all. This past week, President Trump formally began the year-long withdrawal process. In order to finish it, Trump has to send the United Nations a final withdrawal notice next November.

Many of your colleagues, however, are desperately trying to stop him. They have slipped an amendment into the State Department, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Appropriations Act that would make it illegal for Trump to finish the process.

The amendment stipulates that "none of the funds appropriated or otherwise made available by this Act, or prior Acts making appropriations for the Department of State, foreign operations, and related programs, may be used to provide formal notification under Article 28 of the Paris Agreement of the withdrawal of the United States from such Agreement."

This is a disgusting abuse of Congress' Power of the Purse. It is an attempt to bypass the Constitution's Treaty Clause and surrender our sovereignty to the United Nations.

You CANNOT allow this bill to pass as-is. I don't care what it takes, You need to kill this amendment.

Remember: You swore an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution. If you abandon the Treaty Clause and allow this poison pill to pass, you are unfit to serve in any capacity and must be removed from office!
