Cowards: GOPers Terrified After Dems Threaten Gov. Shutdown Over Border Wall Funding

Last month, your colleagues tried to revoke President Trump's national emergency and cancel the border wall construction efforts at the Southern Border.

Trump vetoed the bill, and immediately afterwards approved an additional $200 million in funding for the wall.

Homeland Security now says that more than a mile of new border wall is going up every day and Border Patrol is reporting that illegal crossings and smuggling has plummeted in the sectors where new wall has been built. By the end of next year, the Administration expects to have completed over 500 miles of new wall. That would represent more than double the pedestrian fencing that was in place when Trump took office.

By all metrics, the border wall is keeping the American people safe. This never used to be a partisan issue. Democrats and Republicans used to agree that border security was important.

But now, you are being called to vote on a spending package that would cancel these construction projects and claw back all of the funding.

Democrat leadership is now refusing to pass any spending package that allows the border wall construction to continue. Just last week, Senate Democrats voted down a minibus spending bill simply because it did not address Trump's national emergency order.

They are now threatening a government shutdown unless you agree to claw back the funding and end the border wall construction. They are literally holding the Federal government's funding hostage to try to score a political win against the President.

The Left has drafted a number of amendments that would outlaw border wall construction, renovations, or repairs and claw back the funding that Trump has already reprogrammed. And if you don't agree to pass them, they are threatening to shut down the government again.

This is disgusting.

Why would you possibly want to make it easier for drug and human smugglers to get into the country?

You need to kill all of these poison pill open border amendments. I don't care what it takes, you cannot allow them to pass.

For years, the American people have been promised border security. President Trump is finally delivering on that promise.

I am demanding that you safeguard the project's funding and kill any attempt to claw the border wall money back. If you refuse to stand for border security, you will be replaced with someone who will.

Please, don't test me...
